The School of Biosciences (SBS) at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram recently hosted a vibrant and emotional farewell celebration titled “Outbound Odyssey”. The event was thoughtfully curated to offer a warm and memorable send-off to the final year graduating students. Bringing together faculty members, staff, and juniors, the farewell function was an unforgettable day filled with nostalgia, joy, gratitude, and celebration.

The formal proceedings commenced by student Naida with a warm welcome address by Dr. Saroj Kumar, Dr. Mohd. Zeeshan Najm, and Dr. Neelam Mahala, who extended their heartfelt greetings to the graduating students and acknowledged their contributions to the department. The faculty members reflected on the students’ academic journey, growth, and the shared experiences that defined their time at the School of Biosciences. They encouraged the graduates to carry forward the values imbibed at the university and wished them success in their future endeavors. This was followed by an emotionally resonant “Sharing of Experiences” segment, where seniors took to the stage to recount their journeys. Their narratives ranged from humorous anecdotes and memorable classroom moments to the bonds forged with friends and mentors. Several students became emotional while thanking the faculty for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout their academic journey.

To uplift the mood, junior students presented a series of energetic and colorful Dance Performances that left the audience cheering and applauding. The dance performances were a vibrant expression of appreciation and love for the outgoing students. Following the performances, all attendees enjoyed a delightful lunch, which provided a relaxed setting for informal interactions between juniors, seniors, and faculty, further strengthening the spirit of community and camaraderie.

Post-lunch, the celebration resumed with a Ramp Walk by the graduating students, who walked the stage with elegance and confidence. The segment was filled with laughter, cheers, and creative introductions by the emcees, capturing the personalities and unique traits of each participant. It was a delightful tribute to the individual spirit of each senior. The event proceeded to a playful and engaging Fun Games segment, where students and faculty enthusiastically participated in games designed to invoke teamwork, spontaneity, and humor. These games not only entertained but also strengthened the connection between batches and faculty.

The celebration culminated in a touching Cake-Cutting Ceremony, symbolising the sweet end of a beautiful academic chapter. The Dean of the School of Biosciences, Prof. (Dr.) Vyas M. Shingatgeri, graced the occasion and announced the recipients of the farewell titles: Mr. Farewell 2025 – Kuldeep and Ms. Farewell 2025 – Aastha, chosen for their exceptional personality, leadership, and overall spirit throughout their time in the department. A group photograph of all faculty members and students was then taken to mark the memory of the day.

The celebration concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Neelam Mahala, who expressed her appreciation to all faculty, staff, and students who contributed to organising the event, and creative efforts in planning and executing the farewell.

As the final segment, a lively party dance took over the room, where all attendees—seniors, juniors, and faculty—joined the dance floor in celebration. Music filled the air, and the room echoed with laughter, joy, and affection. It was a powerful reminder of the bonds formed over the years and the positive energy that continues to define the culture of the School of Biosciences.

In conclusion, SBS Farewell 2025 – Outbound Odyssey was more than just a farewell; it was a tribute to growth, friendships, and shared experiences. It was a reminder that though goodbyes are hard, they often mark the beginning of new and exciting journeys.
