Thematic assemblies like the one on Buddha Purnima offer students an opportunity to delve deeper into cultural heritage, moral values, and timeless philosophies. Such events go beyond textbooks, encouraging experiential learning, fostering empathy, and helping students connect to universal messages of peace, discipline, and self-awareness that shape well-rounded individuals.

Ashoka House conducted a captivating morning assembly centred around the theme of Buddha Purnima. The assembly beautifully highlighted the life, teachings, and spiritual journey of Gautam Buddha, a timeless symbol of wisdom, peace, and compassion.

The programme commenced with a serene prayer for peace, setting a tranquil tone for the event. It was followed by a series of thought-provoking quotes by Buddha that encouraged introspection and mindfulness. The word of the day and current news updates added to the informative nature of the assembly.

A soul-stirring choir performance resonated through the auditorium, offering a musical tribute to the spiritual legacy of Buddha. One of the key highlights was a compelling skit performed by students, portraying pivotal moments from Buddha’s life — his transition from royalty to renunciation and his quest for enlightenment. The skit brought alive the essence of the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, presenting these profound concepts in a relatable and engaging manner.

Enhancing the thematic depth of the programme was a graceful classical dance performance that vividly illustrated Buddha’s spiritual journey. The combination of expressive movements and storytelling captivated the audience and added a cultural flair to the event.

To further engage the audience, a recapitulation quiz based on the skit and teachings of Buddha was conducted, sparking enthusiasm among the students and reinforcing key messages.

Ms Surabhi Joshi, the Principal of the school, commended the effort and creativity of the students, encouraging them to continue participating actively in such meaningful events. The assembly concluded with a reflective message urging everyone to embrace patience, let go of anger, and remain grounded in humility.

Overall, it was an enlightening and enriching experience that left the audience inspired to apply Buddha’s timeless teachings in their everyday lives.
