Social work is highly essential as it not only fosters a sense of community but also brings people together to work towards a common goal. To gain firsthand experience, a social outreach programme was held by Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar to build empathy and break down underlying stereotypes and prejudices. The event was marked as highly successful while taking inspiration from NGO, Goonj.

The time is always right to do the right thing goes a saying and abiding by the famous quote, ACFA embarked on a journey of addressing social issues while making a positive impact on society through a meaningful initiative.

Mrs Neena Sondhi, the Director of FC Sondhi & Company Pvt. Ltd., graced the occasion with her benign presence and words of wisdom. Everyone present took part with great enthusiasm, social responsibility and community outreach, making the day truly memorable. The programme laid a lot of emphasis on giving a new dimension to fellow mates while bringing immense awareness to provide help for the village and tribal people.

ACFA consistently takes a leading position in both educational and cultural pursuits. Moreover, it plays a quintessential role in conscientiously fulfilling its social responsibilities, not just through this event but otherwise too. Sharing her thoughts, Sondhi said, “The objective is to provide help to the needy people consciously according to their culture, environment and needs so that they can benefit from it, thus keeping in mind the concept of — mindful giving.”

Ms Pooja and Mr Jai from Goonj’s Delhi centre present at the occasion addressed the gathering. They also showcased their mastery of intricate art forms with needles.

They shared that Goonj endeavours are to provide help to the needy without hurting their
self-respect. They talked about how the organisation can craft an impressive array of 120 distinct products. What sets their work apart is not just their craftsmanship but also their retail prowess, bringing their diverse creations to the market.
