Recently, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, organised a well-structured Parent Orientation Programme at the school auditorium. It welcomed parents of newly admitted students and introducing them to the school’s learning environment, values, and academic approach. The morning reflected a blend of excitement and emotion, as parents arrived with hopes for their children’s bright future while also feeling the tender moment of sending them off on a new journey of learning and growth.

As parents made their way to the auditorium, teachers and support staff warmly received them along the runway leading to the venue. They assisted parents in identifying their sections and pinned specially designed temporary identification cards on their attire to help staff easily recognise and guide them during the event. The orientation also included a brief discussion about the use and importance of these temporary ID cards for parents during the initial days of the academic session.

The welcome address was delivered by Ms Moumita Malik, who greeted the parents and highlighted the significance of building a strong partnership between home and school. The programme was graced by the presence of the school’s Vice-principal Ms Vandana Bansal, Primary Incharge Ms Neeta Dutta, and Pre-primary Incharge, Ms Rachna Jain, along with other faculty members and a large gathering of parents.

The event commenced formally with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising knowledge and new beginnings. Adding a spiritual touch to the moment, primary students presented a soulful Ganesh Vandana, invoking blessings for the new academic year. The cultural segment continued with a lively dance performance by students dressed in vibrant red and gold costumes. Their graceful and energetic performance captivated the audience and set a joyful tone for the rest of the programme.

This was followed by an address by the Vice-principal who shared the school’s vision of nurturing confident, curious, and responsible learners. “A warm welcome to our respected PTA members and parents. Today marks a special beginning as our little learners step into a new world of discovery, friendship, and joyful learning. For many children, this is their first school experience, and for parents, the start of a meaningful partnership with us.

I am proud to share that our school celebrated 50 glorious years in 2025, a Golden Jubilee milestone reflecting a legacy of excellence and value-based education. As we begin this new journey together, I assure you that every child is valued and nurtured in a safe, joyful environment. We look forward to partnering with you to raise happy, confident learners,”  she said.

The session then moved to an informative presentation led by Ms Rachna Jain, who warmly welcomed parents and introduced them to the school’s pedagogy and curriculum. “The early years (0–6) are foundational, as highlighted by great educators and the NEP 2020. At Apeejay, we follow a holistic Head–Heart–Hand approach through a thematic, play-based, and inquiry-based curriculum integrating language, maths, EVS, art, music, and movement,” she explained.

She elaborated on the concept of thematic learning, which helps young learners connect classroom lessons to real-life experiences. Parents were also introduced to Jolly Phonics and its role in early literacy development, foundational mathematical concepts, and the importance of circle time in fostering communication skills and positive affirmations among children. To make the session more engaging and clearer, videos demonstrating these classroom practices were simultaneously screened.

Several initiatives of the school were also discussed during the orientation. Parents were introduced to smart learning through digital boards and the school’s focus on sports and physical activity, guided by the philosophy that “sport is the work of a child.” Events such as the annual sports celebration Sportacular, were highlighted, along with various festive celebrations including Holi, Diwali, Halloween, Children’s Day, Grandparents’ Day, and Janmashtami.

The orientation also shed light on special assemblies like Nursery thematic presentations, educational excursion trips, and the school’s much-awaited annual winter carnival, Minerva. Important communication channels such as Parent Connect, the monthly planner, the school newsletter, and Apeejay Newsroom were also explained to keep parents actively informed about school activities. Practical information regarding school timings, books and stationery, uniforms, Parent-Teacher Meetings, the parent app, and Moodle was shared in detail to ensure parents were well prepared for the academic year. Ms Jain reiterated, “Kindly ensure ID/escort cards, labelled belongings, regular attendance, and healthy meals. Together, let us nurture confident, joyful learners.”

One of the most heartwarming highlights of the day was when five little learners came on stage and confidently shared their experiences at school so far. Their cheerful and honest reflections brought smiles to the audience and reassured parents about the nurturing environment of the school.

While the parents attended the orientation in the auditorium, the children were equally well cared for. The school organised engaging activities for them, including swings, hand-painting sessions, and even horse riding, ensuring they remained happy and occupied.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Alka Tikku, who expressed gratitude to the school leadership, teachers, parents, and staff for making the event successful. ‘On behalf of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, I thank all parents for joining this Nursery Orientation Programme. Your support strengthens our partnership in nurturing young learners. Gratitude to our Vice Principal and management for their guidance”.

Mrs Afsha Ahmed, mother of Arishfa Ahmed and Abaan Ahmed, shared, “It was a great experience today. The session was highly helpful. This is the second time we have chosen Apeejay, and the best part is their thematic learning and Jolly Phonics approach that helps children grow better.”

Sharing a smiliar experience, Ms Sakshi Jain, mother of Saesha Jain, who recently joined nursery, said, “It was a well-equipped and thoughtfully organised event. I am very excited to see what lies ahead in my daughter’s journey.”

Mrs Jyoti and Mr Shashank, parents of Atisha Gupta, expressed their happiness with the orientation. Mr Shashank, an alumnus of the school, shared, “It feels very special sending my daughter to the same school. I have complete trust in Apeejay Education.”

Parents of Agastya Daya appreciated the session and said, “The orientation was very interactive and well-organised. Seeing the children present and understanding the thematic learning approach was wonderful. The overall experience, including the refreshments, was excellent.”

Ms Subini, whose daughter has joined KG, shared, “It has always been a dream to admit my child to Apeejay School. My niece studies here as well. The orientation was very helpful and well arranged, from the ID cards to the activities. I am hopeful and excited for my daughter’s future here.”

The orientation ended with the National Anthem, after which parents and children were given a welcome kit followed by refreshments, bringing the meaningful and memorable morning to a warm close.
