Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar recently organised a Grand Musical Performance in the college campus where Ustad Dilshad Khan, a renowned International Sarangi Artist and Sri Siddhartha Chatterjee, a famous Tabla Artist, were present. Both the artists mesmerised the audience with their skillful art on the Sarangi and Tabla.
Warmly welcoming the guests, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, said, “Our campus is truly blessed and privileged where artists of such incredible and distinct talent and national and international stature visit and make the time here historical and memorable.”


She expressed her humble gratitude for the artists while mentioning the constant inspiration and support from Dr. Stya Paul, late Founder Chairman, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education and Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter of Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University.
Dr. Dhingra added that Dr. Arun Mishra, Cultural Coordinator of the College, and Dr. Amita Mishra, Dean, Youth Festival, , always invite the best and renowned artists to the college and this exposure to the students truly inspire and motivate the students and at the same time promote and cherish our rich Indian Classical Music.

Ustad Dilshad Khan, who has been associated with the ‘Sikar’ Gharana for the last 20 years, is engaged in preserving the heritage of Indian classical music with the motto to connect the youth with this art form. He has been contributing in promoting Classical and Contemporary music with Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, A.R. Rahman and Shankar Mahadevan. He has established his uniqueness while playing Sarangi in famous Bollywood films like ‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Delhi 6’ and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. He has also won Grammy Award in 2009 while playing Sarangi with Ustad Zakir Hussain and is constantly working to get special recognition to Indian classical music and Sarangi playing on international stages.
He was accompanied on the tabla by Shri Siddharth Chatterjee from the ‘Farrukhabad’ gharana, who is also making a wonderful contribution in taking Indian classical music to the pinnacle.
The artists Ustad Dilshad Khan, Shri Siddhartha Chatterjee and Mr. Piyush Chauhan were honoured with shawls by Dr. Dhingra, Dr. Amita Mishra and Dr. Arun Mishra.
