
Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, marked a dazzling chapter in its legacy with the vibrant celebration of the Annual Sports Day recently. The event, graced by chief guest, Mr Ravindra Paul, Dean of Pali Central University, Mahendragarh in Haryana, witnessed an exuberant display of athleticism and camaraderie.
The festivities commenced with the hoisting of the school flag by Mr Ravindra, setting the stage for a spirited March Past by the school’s young cadets. Speaking at the event, he emphasised the importance of sports in students’ all-round development, aligning it with academics and other extracurricular pursuits. “Ensure that you make sports and exercise an essential part of your regular life. His words came alive as students showcased their prowess in synchronised exercise drills. From intricate movements like Suryanamaskar to PT drills, dumbbell sets, and aerobic exercises, the students demonstrated their agility and discipline in a vibrant display.
Applauding the students’ efforts, Mr Ravindra emphasised how these drills encapsulated the essence of sports as a catalyst for holistic development and unity. He underscored the role of sports in fostering societal bonds, uniting individuals from diverse backgrounds and enhancing immunity to combat diseases.
The sporting extravaganza featured 30 competitions, including athletic races, long jump, high jump, shot put, and discus throw. Anshul from class XII and Vanshu from class IX were adjudged the Best Sportsman and Best Sportswoman, respectively, for their exceptional performances across these sporting events. The spirited competition among school houses culminated in Kabir House earning the coveted title of Best House, showcasing consistent excellence across all events.
The March Past brought laurels for Gautam House; they secured the first position and receiving a prestigious trophy. Parents, an integral part of the celebration, actively participated in engaging games like the spoon race and lemon race, with winners receiving well-deserved medals.
Expressing gratitude in the closing address, Mr Rudrendra Basak, principal of Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri extended heartfelt thanks to the chief guest, parents, teachers, and students. He passionately appealed to parents to nurture their children’s enthusiasm for sports, recognising its vital role in character development.
