On the eve of Janmashtami, a magnificent ballet titled ‘Krishnam,’ dedicated to the life events of Lord Krishna, was organised by Rajeshwari Kala Sangam in collaboration with Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar. This grand event celebrated the cultural richness and spiritual heritage of India, offering an artistic portrayal of Krishna’s life and teachings.
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, IAS, Honourable Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Director of Apeejay Education, who expressed her delight in hosting such a distinguished guest. Addressing the august gathering, she said, “I am certain that the distinguished audience will remember today’s celebrations and feel enthralled to witness the musical and dramatic presentation of various Leelas of Shri Krishna’s life.” Dr. Sucharita Sharma further added, ” “It is my pleasure to have an audience who admires and appreciates art and who shall here witness the Lord Krishna’s ’16 kala sampooran’ life.” She also mentioned that the objective of ACFA has always been to discover the potential of the students and provide them a platform to give them exposure and also to educate them about their vast and rich Indian culture.

She also highlighted that Smt. Rajeshwari Paul’s passion for fine arts inspired the foundation of Rajeshwari Kala Sangam. Also, late Dr Stya Paul, Founder Chairman , Apeejay Stya Group & Apeejay Education himself was an ardent devotee and worshiper of Lord Krishna and the celebration is the manifestation of his ideas and vision.
His glorious legacy is being preserved and promoted by his daughter Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education and granddaughter Dr Neha Berlia, Co-Family Business Owner and Core Board Member of Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University.
The ballet ‘Krishnam’ was a captivating showcase of Krishna’s divine life, featuring key episodes such as his birth, the Kaliya Mardan, the sacred love of Radha-Krishna, the Raasleela, Draupadi’s chirharan, Meerabai’s devotion, and the symbolic significance of the peacock feather Krishna wears. Each scene was brought to life by the students and faculty of ACFA, who handled everything from music composition to costume design, emphasising the college’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent and cultural awareness.




Overwhelmed by Krishnam’s brilliant presentation, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal expressed his views and said that it was his utmost pleasure to attend this incredible ballet and witness the charm that the 86 performers had displayed today on the stage. Addressing the young brigade, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said, “It is essential to be studious and attend the lectures but at the same time one should be proactive to be a performer on the stage too. These are the things which make them all rounder.” He also added that there are a lot of qualities which one can adopt from Krishna’s life namely – Patience, Humbleness and being respectful to everyone. He added that all the youth should adopt the life mantra to spread positivity around and be respectful and be loving towards everyone and this surely can lead to a quality life.




Further, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, extended her heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the event’s success, acknowledging the ongoing efforts of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia and Dr. Neha Berlia in promoting the arts. She also expressed gratitude to the dedicated faculty members, including Dr. Arun Mishra, Dr. Amita Mishra, Dr. Vivek Verma, Dr. Manisha Sharma, and Dr. Mickey Verma, whose tireless efforts ensured the ballet’s success.
The event concluded with a graceful stage presentation by Dr. Sunit Kaur, Head of the Department of English, and the awarding of certificates to all student performers. A memento was also presented to Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal to commemorate the day, marking the event as a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for all.
