“Festivals are to art what the soil is to the tree – the nourisher and the sustainer.”

At Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, education goes beyond textbooks—it embraces tradition, celebrates diversity, and fosters cultural learning. The recent Teej celebrations offered students a vibrant platform to understand the essence of Indian heritage while expressing their creative selves.

The two-day celebration transformed the school into a lively canvas filled with colours, music, and festivity vibe. Students from Nursery to Class XII actively participated, immersing themselves in a joyful experience that seamlessly blended learning with celebration. This cultural immersion allowed children to develop a sense of belonging, respect for traditions, and a deeper understanding of Indian festivals.

The festivities began with spirited dance performances that echoed the rhythm of tradition and youthful energy. Songs sung with devotion added a spiritual undertone, creating an atmosphere infused with joy and reverence. A special attraction was the Henna (Mehendi) celebration in which students adorned each other’s hands with intricate designs symbolising beauty, fortune, and cultural richness.

The enthusiasm of the tiny tots in their traditional outfits was especially heartwarming, as they gleefully participated in every activity, embodying the true spirit of Teej.

Adding to the grandeur of the event, the Principal, Mr. Vineet Vasishtha, addressed the gathering, appreciating the students’ vibrant participation and the staff’s efforts in upholding cultural values. He shared insightful reflections on the significance of Teej, explaining how festivals serve as bridges to our roots, foster community spirit, and nurture personal identity. His words inspired the young minds to not only enjoy but also understand the importance of such celebrations.

“I am immensely proud of our students and staff for the spectacular Teej celebrations. The enthusiasm, talent, and respect for tradition displayed by everyone, from our tiny tots to our senior students, were truly heartwarming. Such festivals are vital in connecting us to our rich cultural heritage and fostering a sense of community.

Witnessing the joy and understanding on the children’s faces as they learned about and celebrated Teej was a rewarding experience that reinforces our commitment to holistic education,” shares Dr Vasishtha.

The Henna competition for Class VIII was a showcase of creativity and skill. Pallavi Jangra won first place, followed by Riyansi Garg and Kavya Arya securing the second and third positions respectively.

Through music, dance, art, and cultural storytelling, the Teej celebrations at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, became a cherished learning experience, nurturing both hearts and minds in a truly holistic manner.
