Annual Sports Day held at Apeejay School, Saket, was a spectacle of strength and spirit

Under clear skies and amidst resounding cheers, Apeejay School, Saket, came alive as it hosted its Annual Sports Day, an exuberant celebration of youthful energy, teamwork, and indomitable spirit. With students from Classes I to VIII taking centre stage, the campus was transformed into a dynamic arena pulsating with colour, motion, and boundless enthusiasm.

The event commenced with a melodious performance by the school choir, followed by a ceremonial welcome for the Chief Guest, Mr Rohtash Chaudhary, by the school band, looking resplendent in their uniforms. The Chief Guest was honoured with a green welcome and a formal felicitation by the school Principal, Dr Sujeet Eric Masih, setting a dignified tone for the day.

Next came the ceremonial balloon release that symbolised hope and collective aspirations, marking it as a testament to holistic education and youthful exuberance. The Chief Guest then addressed the gathering, delivering an insightful and motivating speech on the importance of sports in character-building, leadership, and holistic development. Emphasising teamwork and integrity, the address deeply resonated with students and staff alike.

Mr Chaudhary, also known as the Push-up Man of India, who holds several grand Guinness World Records, expressed, “I have faced countless challenges which I overcame because I believed that this lifetime should not go to waste in despair and disappointment. I would like to encourage everyone present here to never give up in life, even if nothing goes as planned. I want to thank God and my parents, whose blessings have always helped me pass through every trial in life. Never underestimate the power of hard work and positivity, and never ever stop loving yourself; keep yourself fit and healthy.”

The programme continued with a soul-stirring choir performance by the students, whose motivational songs set an inspiring tone and filled the atmosphere with optimism and pride. A series of exciting events followed, beginning with a balloon-bursting race for Class I students, where both boys and girls participated with infectious zeal, drawing loud cheers from the spectators.

Parents added to the festive spirit, enthusiastically cheering from the stands and backing the young participants, thereby amplifying the collective excitement of the occasion. A special performance by the school’s Sports Guru team captivated the audience, as students clad in bright pom-pom costumes delivered a high-energy display marked by precision and synchrony. Class IV students impressed everyone with their determination as they participated in engaging activities such as tying shoelaces, picking up school bags, and completing well-designed fun tasks that tested both agility and focus.

Cultural performances added grace to the occasion, including a Kathak fusion dance by students dressed in elegant white, pink, and yellow attire. The Principal’s inspiring address motivated young athletes.

Dr Masih, in his address, mentioned the power of strong determination in achieving all goals. “I am proud of all the children present here who are participating in all the rigorous sports activities. Everyone is a champion today; they have trained hard. I wish everyone good luck, and remember, we are all winners.”

Students donning shimmering blue dresses welcomed the audience, leaving everyone spellbound. The programme also featured a delightful dance performance with hoops, showcasing coordination, rhythm, and creativity. Each segment of the event reflected the school’s commitment to holistic development, blending physical fitness with confidence and joy.

A rhythmic performance with dumbbells followed, where students displayed remarkable synchronisation and physical control through well-coordinated movements. The excitement escalated with a ball-rolling race conducted for both girls and boys, encouraging teamwork and precision. This was complemented by a lively dance performance using basketballs, presented by the Sports Guru team, which showcased exceptional agility, balance, and control.

The hurdle race, open to both boys and girls, drew enthusiastic applause as participants demonstrated speed, stamina, and determination. Cultural elegance was added through a graceful dance with scarves, blending artistic expression with physical movement. Younger participants also took centre stage in the nursery race, where boys and girls charmed the audience with their innocence and spirited participation.

The highlight of the day was the the parachute drill, shot by the drone, performed by students of Classes II and III. Their coordinated movements symbolised harmony, patience, and collaboration, leaving a lasting impression on spectators. Each performance reflected the school’s commitment to holistic development, reinforcing the belief that sports foster discipline, confidence, and unity.

The Annual Sports Day continued with a series of track races conducted separately for boys and girls, showcasing energy, discipline, and competitive spirit. The young participants displayed remarkable stamina and sportsmanship, earning warm applause from the audience. The races set an energetic tone for the proceedings and highlighted the school’s commitment to nurturing physical fitness alongside academic growth.

A special segment of the ceremony was dedicated to recognising young achievers who had excelled in various sporting disciplines at different competitive levels.

The winners were conferred with medals and certificates across categories. Each award symbolised not merely victory, but dedication, resilience, and consistent effort. The proud smiles of the recipients reflected the value of disciplined practice and guided mentorship.

As a gesture of gratitude and respect, the school Principal presented a token of appreciation to the Chief Guest for their invaluable contribution and inspiring presence.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by the Head of the Sports Department, expressing sincere appreciation to all organisers, participants, and supporters who made the event a memorable success.
