The investiture ceremony at Apeejay School, Model Town reiterated a commitment to uphold the ideals of the school

Recently, Apeejay School, Model Town, hosted the much-awaited Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2024-2025. Drenched in the fragrance of traditional values and imbued with the spirit of times to come, it was the high point in the school calendar where a new band of student leaders would be invested with the onus of heading school activities and, above all, of guarding values very closely identified with the school ethos.

It started with the traditional lamp-lighting, lightening up the path of ‘light and prosperity’ — that essentially forms part of the schools’ ethos. This was succeeded by a ceremonial and emotive video tribute to our Founder-Chairman, the Late Dr Stya Paul, whose vision of making education accessible, has been an influencing factor for the institute. It also encapsulated an inspirational message from Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Education, and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University in which she brought out, in a very articulate manner, the legacy of leadership and learning that the school inherits.

Leadership Vows and Visionary Words

The Officiating Principal, Ms Priyanka Grover welcomed all with her warm words. In her address, she told every student to instil a positive attitude towards life and rise against all odds. Her address was very enriching, setting the direction for the roles that the new council members were going to take up. Further, the atmosphere was carried to the next level by the school choir singing a prayer entitled Channel of Peace, instilling a feeling of peace and hope in one and all.

The high point of the ceremony was certainly the badging and sashing of new council members. It is not for ornament but a lesson to practice by example. On the contrary, it was an oath-taking ceremony in which the group made a public assurance about commitment to their roles and responsibilities.

Inspirational Performances During Unity Celebrations

The organizers did take the pain to invite the parents of council members who walked up to the stage during felicitation in a bid to indicate that the community stood behind the growth of these budding future leaders. There was also a mesmerising dance performance that enthralled all, reflecting the spirits of leadership and responsibility in a manner that mirrored the theme of the ceremony — growth and empowerment.

The moment was so well crystallised in memory by a class picture, where all the students and house councils stand in line with their teachers, to truly depict the very essence of unity and purpose.

Even the air seemed to change, gaining zest and enthusiasm for the unfolding event. On the one hand, the investiture ceremony turned out to be one for celebrating the potential leadership that each student possesses; at the same time, the school is doing its part to reiterate its set objectives vis-à-vis training in resilient and ethical leadership. The collective spirit of the students, staff, and even parents during the ceremony resulted in a deep experience for all concerned.

Building up students with knowledgeable minds and responsible, visionary leadership that can make a positive difference with whomever they serve is epitomised by this event.

The Head Mistress, Ms Namrata Sharma, concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks and spoke about the efforts that each one of them put up in making this ceremony so memorable. At the end of the ceremony, the school song and the National Anthem rose high, reiterating a commitment binding all of them together to the ideals of the school.
