Apeejay School, Noida, recently hosted an Orientation Session for parents of newly admitted students across Nursery to class 9, offering them a glimpse into the school’s vision, academic excellence, and holistic development initiatives. 

The session commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, accompanied by the melodious chanting of Saraswati Vandana, marking an auspicious start.

Extending a warn welcome, Ms. Amrita Hajela,  Vice Principal,  greeted the parents while emphasising the importance of collaboration between the school and families in shaping a child’s future. “Education is a shared commitment between parents, students, and dedicated teachers. We at Apeejay School, Noida leave no stone unturned in providing a holistic education to our students, ensuring their overall growth,” she remarked.

Empowering Parents: Insights from an Expert

The highlight of the event was a parental counseling session on ‘Parenting Gen Z’, conducted by renowned Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, alongside Principal, Dr. Neha Sharma. The session delved into modern-day parenting challenges, providing strategies to help children transition smoothly into a new school environment, reduce anxiety, and foster independence.

Dr. Nagpal shared his expertise on nurturing young minds in today’s fast-paced world, highlighting that parenting is more than just guidance—it’s about building a connection.

“A child observes, hears, and sees more than parents realize. It’s not about the number of hours we spend with them, but the quality of moments we share. Tell them your childhood stories, be a playmate, and most importantly, discipline yourself before disciplining them. Children learn by example,” he advised.

Addressing the importance of school-parent collaboration, he added, “Child development is a partnership. The school and parents must work together to nurture a child’s potential. Family is the first and best school for a child.”

Apeejay’s Holistic Approach: A Student-Led Showcase

To provide parents with deeper insights into the school’s academic and extracurricular landscape, students took center stage to present the School Report. The presentation highlighted the myriad scholastic and co-scholastic achievements of their peers, along with the initiatives taken by the school to ensure joyful and holistic learning.

A virtual tour of the school’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities was also conducted, giving parents a closer look at Apeejay’s dynamic learning environment. The musical segment, featuring a hymn of gratitude, was a heartfelt moment, showcasing the purity and enthusiasm of young students.

Principal Dr. Neha Sharma further reinforced the school’s commitment to excellence, acknowledging the visionary leadership of Madam Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman – Apeejay Education, and Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter and Member, Management Board, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group.

Adding an element of fun to the session, Principal Dr. Neha Sharma engaged parents in an exciting quiz on Gen Z slang. Laughter filled the room as parents attempted to decode terms like ‘rizz’ creating a lighthearted yet meaningful moment of connection.

Parent, Ms. Nidhima Singhal, shared enthusiastically, “As parents, we relive our school life through our children. I always ask my daughter about her day at school, encourage her self-expression, and try to be her friend. This session was a great moment to reconnect with children as a parent and gain insight from a fresh perspective.”

A Fulfilling Conclusion to an Enriching Day

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Principal Ms. Puneeta Bhasin, who acknowledged the contributions of the school management, faculty, students, and guest speaker.

Following the session, parents and faculty engaged in informal discussions over a sumptuous lunch, further strengthening the school-parent bond.
