A day full of innovations to honour Dr Kalam!

Celebrating National Innovation Day, Apeejay students make many socially useful gadgets that can help make the world a better place for all

There is no one in our nation who does not know about Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. However, the former President of India, also known as the ‘Missile Man’ in recognition of his immense contribution in  Indian Space Research Organisation , was first and foremost a student unparalleled. It is in his honour that India celebrates World Students Day.


Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) in Jalandhar believes whole-heartedly in following Dr Kalam’s example. The college helps the students to reach their potential by providing them with various platforms and workshops.


In sync with this value system, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) recently organised a project demonstration competition. This event was celebrated to mark the National Innovation Day, which aimed to pay a hearty tribute to the revered Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.Students from diverse academic backgrounds including BTECH (CSE), BCA, BBA, BCOM(H), MBA and MCA took the center stage to exhibit their remarkable talents. Students showcased their skills through a wide array of exhibits, encompassing software projects, hardware projects, and innovative project ideas slated for future implementation.

The event featured standout projects including a bluetooth device, vending machine and blind stick for improved mobility of the visually impaired. A sensor-based dustbin and robotic car highlighted some out of the box automation possibilities, alongside captivating websites and forward-looking concepts like an electro-kinetic energy converter and a readers’ community platform.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director at AIMETC, expressed his pride and admiration for the students’ innovative spirit and their commitment to fostering a culture of innovation at the AIMETC campus.

He mentioned, “I applaud the efforts of each and every student in celebrating the National Innovation Day with such enthusiasm and dedication. It is a great way of paying tribute to the visionary Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. I urge you all to take inspiration from the visionary scientists’ life and create inventions that help make the world a more peaceful, happier place.”Dr. Bagga also emphasised on the importance of nurturing creative-thinking and problem-solving skills among students to shape a brighter future. He stated, “Continue fostering innovation and nurturing your latent creativity. It has a pivotal role in shaping the future. At AIMETC we encourage you to push the boundaries of innovation.”


Dr Bagga then went on to announce the results of the competition. Mahip Singh and Vasu Bhardwaj from B Tech (CSE) course clinched the first position. While Sushant, an MBA student, bagged the second prize, Anurag Sharda from B Tech (CSE) garnered the well deserved third position.The competition was judged by Mr. Amanpratap, faculty at the School of IT and Dr. Ajwinder Dhillon, faculty at the School of Management. The event was coordinated by Akansha, Pearl, Vasu, and Ashish among the students while the faculty coordinators were Mr. Rohit Verma, Convenor, IIC and Ms. Hardeep Kaur, member of IIC.

Senior Correspondent at the Apeejay Newsroom, Arijit has written more than a thousand articles across varied genres and also shot video interviews and live coverages with the highest viewership, displaying his versatility and skill. Be it a special achievement article, feedback from a parent, high profile alumnus interview or a featured write up on culture, literature and sports, he is the go to person. His initiatives like Aspiring Artist, Promising Poet and Book reviews have earned him special place in the hearts of all students and readers. Arijit initiated video interviews with a wholesome campaign on the 2022 FIFA World Cup, consisting of 16 match review articles and 3 video interviews of budding football players and enthusiasts across various Apeejay schools in Delhi. He also did the live coverage of Apeejay Noida's mega event Runathon 2023 and also many other special interviews. All his videos created new benchmarks for views, especially the latter crossing 2k views in just days. A performing poet, short story writer and football player in the other half of the day, Arijit leads a colourful and passionate life.
