A compelling panel discussion on how to break stereotypes

Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) recently organised a compelling panel discussion in honour of International Women’s Day. The event, titled “Breaking Barriers,” featured accomplished women leaders from various sectors of mass communication, shedding light on their journeys and experiences in overcoming obstacles to promote gender equality in the professional world.
The panelists, including RJ Simran, Sujata Madhok, Nidhi Sinha, and Dr. Payal Kumar, shared their insights on shattered stereotypes and defying societal norms to excel in their respective fields. They delved into the challenges they faced and the strategies they employed to navigate through barriers, addressing the disproportionate representation of women in the workforce compared to men.
The discussion went beyond personal experiences, as the panelists debunked myths surrounding gender disparity in the workplace and engaged with student questions. Topics ranged from parenting techniques to escape stereotypical environments to addressing misogyny in the workplace and the role of policymakers in dismantling existing gender stereotypes.


The event served as a platform for insightful discussions and reflections on the evolving landscape of women’s participation in the industry. It underscored the importance of celebrating women’s achievements and advancing efforts towards gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace. As International Women’s Day was commemorated, the event concluded with felicitations and a group picture with students, emphasising the ongoing commitment to champion the empowerment and advancement of women in all spheres of life.
