IBM has announced a strategic partnership with the Indian government to drive advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductor research, and quantum technologies. Through three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, IBM and the government will establish a national AI innovation platform. This platform will leverage IBM’s Watson X platform to train models across various domains, including language, code, and geospatial science.
The initiative aims to enhance India’s scientific, commercial, and human capital development in these technologies, with a focus on AI skilling and ecosystem development.
Additionally, IBM will collaborate with the Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM) to support India’s goal of becoming a prominent player in global semiconductor manufacturing. This partnership will encompass research and development, skill development, and chip design. IBM will also provide expertise on intellectual property, tools, and skills development to foster innovation in semiconductor technologies.
In addition to this, IBM will join forces with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to bolster India’s national quantum mission. The company will extend its support to the FutureSkills programme, in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology. IBM will also partner with futureDESIGN start-ups specialising in Quantum and AI technologies.
