Recently, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, organised an orientation programme for Class I parents, marking the start of the new academic session. The session aimed to familiarise parents with the school’s academic approach, expectations, and support systems while easing the transition from kindergarten to formal schooling.

The programme opened with a welcome address by Ms Alka Tikku, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Vice-principal, Ms Vandana Bansal, and Pre-Primary In-charge, Ms Rachna Jain, joined by students and parents. The gesture set a thoughtful and positive tone for the interaction ahead.

Understanding the school’s approach

The Vice-principal introduced parents to the school’s legacy, outlining its five-decade journey and its commitment to balanced education. She explained how the institution continues to align its vision with evolving educational needs.

Building on this, Ms Jain explained key aspects of the National Education Policy 2020 and the school’s pedagogy. She spoke about the importance of a smooth academic transition, highlighting how listening, speaking, reading, and writing are developed in an integrated manner across subjects.

Ms Tanuja Raj shared how classroom learning is supported through activities such as show and tell, role-play, assemblies, and festivals. These experiences, she explained, help children build confidence and communication skills from an early stage.

Ms Diksha Sachdeva outlined co-scholastic areas, including music, dance, sports, and computer education, along with exposure through events like the Annual Appreciation Day and adventure camps.

Systems, routines, and the road ahead

The session also covered practical aspects such as school routines, assessment patterns, and the use of digital platforms. Parents were guided on maintaining consistent routines, encouraging reading habits, and creating a supportive home environment.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Tikku. What stayed with many parents was a clearer understanding of how early schooling shapes not just academic growth but also a child’s overall development in the years ahead at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.
