The School of Education at Apeejay Stya University organised an engaging and thought-provoking session on The Power of Human Values at its campus. Held at BS08, the interactive programme brought together students and faculty for a meaningful dialogue on the role of values in personal and social transformation.
The session was conducted by Mr Karthik Shankar from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Institute of Values, Gurugram, and aligned with the broader vision of the Viksit Bharat Abhiyan. Through his address, he emphasised how human values form the foundation of a purposeful and fulfilling life.
Lessons Rooted in Timeless Teachings
Drawing inspiration from the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Mr Karthik highlighted that qualities such as integrity, compassion, and inner strength are essential for true success. He encouraged students to look beyond material achievements and focus on building a strong moral compass.
He also acknowledged the legacy of value-based education nurtured by Apeejay Education, paying tribute to the visionary leadership of Stya Paul and appreciating the continued efforts of Sushma Paul Berlia in promoting ethical learning among young minds.

Understanding Internal and External Harmony
The session was divided into two insightful segments. The first focused on Internal Harmony, where students explored the importance of aligning thoughts, speech, and actions. Through reflective questions, they engaged in discussions on self-awareness, overcoming fear, and achieving peace of mind—key elements in building inner resilience.
The second segment addressed External Harmony, encouraging students to expand their perspective from ‘me’ to ‘we’. Discussions centred on interdependence, collective growth, and the idea of a shared human identity. This shift, students learned, is crucial for fostering empathy and responsible citizenship.

Learning Through Real-Life Contexts
Adding a practical dimension, the session included group discussions on Expansion in a Crisis, drawing insights from the Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue Mission. Students analysed how resilience, teamwork, and compassion come into play during challenging situations, reinforcing the relevance of human values in real-world scenarios.
Faculty members, including Dr Minaxi, Dr Manju, Ms Swati, and Dr Vijay Kumar, appreciated the initiative for strengthening character-building efforts within the academic environment.

A Message for the Future
The programme concluded with a powerful takeaway: love leads to expansion, while selfishness results in contraction. The session not only deepened students’ understanding of human values but also reinforced the university’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible and ethically grounded future leaders.
By blending philosophy with practical learning, the session served as a reminder that true education goes beyond academics; it shapes individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society.
