Recently, Apeejay School, Nerul, hosted its much-awaited annual carnival, La Flâneur 2026, bringing together students, parents and the larger community for a day filled with colour, music and shared joy. Organised under the aegis of Apeejay Education, the event reflected the institution’s belief that learning thrives not only in classrooms, but also through culture, creativity and collaboration.
Founded by the visionary freedom fighter Dr Stya Paul (Founder-Chairman, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group), and carried forward under the leadership of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education, the Apeejay ethos of holistic education was evident throughout the carnival.
The arrival of Chief Guest Mr Sanjay Sudam Kadu, Shiv Chatrapati Awardee and International Table Tennis Coach and Umpire, added significance to the evening segment. The occasion was also graced by the Guest of Honour, Mr Dhananjay Sarkar, Assistant Commissioner, Customs and CGST Rtd, and Special Invitee Mr Shashi Malhan, a distinguished alumnus of the school.

The festivities opened with a traditional welcome for the guests, setting a warm and respectful tone. This was followed by a stirring orchestra performance, where students displayed their musical finesse and teamwork. The lamp-lighting ceremony and Invocation Dance added a quiet spiritual note, invoking harmony and collective purpose.
Mr Shashi Malhan spoke about the importance of togetherness and values shaped during one’s school years. His words resonated strongly with the audience, especially students who saw in him a reflection of what the Apeejay Education journey can nurture.
In his address, the school Principal, Mr P Subhash, acknowledged the sustained efforts of students and staff, while thanking parents and visitors for their continued support. He noted that the success of La Flâneur 2025–26 stood as a reflection of the school community’s shared commitment and unity.
Performances, participation and pure energy
As the carnival unfolded, the campus came alive with performances, competitions and interactive stalls. The dignitaries toured the stalls curated by students and teachers, appreciating their creativity and enthusiasm.

Bollywood Tadka, the dance competition, brought high energy to the stage as junior and senior students performed to popular tracks. Tambola rounds kept parents and visitors engaged, adding an element of excitement and friendly suspense to the day.
One of the major highlights was the Inter-school Rock Band Competition, which saw spirited performances by teams from Lokmanya Tilak International School, Koparkhairane, Empyrean School, Kharghar, Apeejay School, Kharghar, and Apeejay School, Nerul. Judged by music expert Mr Shibu Varghese, the competition electrified the atmosphere as each band combined technical skill with raw energy, drawing loud applause from the audience.
The evening continued with a range of performances. Thrills ’n’ Chills, a talent showcase by parents and children, highlighted joyful collaboration across generations. Students followed this with a powerful Hip Hop performance that drew loud applause.
A cultural high point was Rajasthani Rang, which moved seamlessly from folk traditions to a contemporary Hip Hop-infused classical sequence, choreographed by Ms Neha Mhatre. This was followed by a thoughtful dance piece by senior dance teacher Ms Shreya Basak, exploring the seasons and elements of nature through movement.

The prize distribution ceremony honoured the winners of the Intra-school competitions. These included pot painting, rangoli, anime fabric painting and flower arrangement. The carnival concluded with a much-anticipated Lucky Draw, sending the audience home on a cheerful note.
La Flâneur 2026 was more than a festive gathering. It reinforced the value of experiential learning, teamwork and cultural expression. By the time the curtains fell, the carnival had created memories that would stay with the school community long after the music faded.
