Good vision plays a vital role in a child’s learning and overall development. From reading the blackboard to participating actively in classroom activities and sports, healthy eyesight directly influences confidence, concentration, and academic performance. Recognising the importance of preventive healthcare and early diagnosis, schools today are taking meaningful steps to ensure their students’ physical well-being through regular medical check-ups and awareness initiatives.
Keeping this objective in mind, Apeejay School, Tanda Road, organised a comprehensive ‘eye check-up camp’ for students from Pre-nursery to Class VIII in collaboration with Thind Eye Hospital, Jalandhar. The initiative aimed to promote awareness about eye health and enable early detection of vision-related concerns among young learners.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across classes. A team of experienced ophthalmologists and trained medical professionals conducted detailed eye screenings using modern equipment. Each child underwent a systematic examination to assess visual acuity, eye coordination, and overall eye health. The doctors also identified issues such as refractive errors, weak eyesight, and other common vision problems that often go unnoticed in early childhood.

Along with the screenings, the experts guided students on maintaining healthy visual habits. They shared simple yet effective tips such as limiting screen time, maintaining proper reading distance, eating nutritious food rich in vitamins, and taking regular eye breaks while studying. The interactive guidance helped children understand the importance of caring for their eyes in a practical and engaging manner.
Teachers and parents appreciated the thoughtful initiative, as early detection can prevent long-term complications and support better academic outcomes. The camp not only addressed immediate health needs but also instilled lifelong awareness about personal well-being among students.
The camp proved to be a meaningful step towards nurturing healthy, confident, and focused learners, reflecting Apeejay School’s continued commitment to holistic development and the overall welfare of every child.
