The Literary and Dramatics Cell of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar recently organised an Elocution Competition to commemorate International Education Day, aligning with UNESCO’s theme for the year, “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education.” The event aimed to highlight the pivotal role of young minds in shaping inclusive, innovative, and future-ready education systems.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across disciplines, who showcased their oratory skills while reflecting on contemporary educational challenges and reforms. The topic for the elocution—“If you were the Minister of Education for a day, what would be the first change you would make?”—encouraged participants to think critically and propose visionary, policy-driven ideas. Students presented socially conscious perspectives, addressing issues such as equitable access to education, curriculum innovation, skill-based learning, mental well-being, and the integration of technology in classrooms.
The event served as a dynamic platform for students to articulate their thoughts confidently while engaging with the broader discourse on education reform. Each speech reflected originality, clarity of thought, and a strong sense of responsibility towards nation-building. The jury evaluated participants on content, articulation, confidence, and overall impact.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rajesh Bagga emphasised the transformative role of youth in shaping the nation’s future through education. He remarked, “Education is not merely about acquiring degrees but about developing the ability to think critically, act ethically, and contribute meaningfully to society. Platforms like elocution competitions empower students to voice their ideas confidently and become responsible stakeholders in shaping the future of education.” His address reinforced the importance of nurturing informed, articulate, and socially responsible learners.

The competition concluded with the announcement of results. Archita from BBA Semester VI secured the first position for her compelling arguments and impactful delivery. Anjali from B.Com (Honours) Semester IV bagged the second position, while Kamakshi from B.Com (Honours) Semester VI secured the third position. Umesh Panday from MBA Semester IV was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his noteworthy participation. The winners were applauded for their strong articulation, innovative viewpoints, and confident presentation.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by the Literary and Dramatics Cell, which reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to fostering communication skills, leadership qualities, and value-based education among students. The Elocution Competition not only celebrated International Education Day meaningfully but also reinforced the belief that empowered youth can actively contribute to reimagining education for a better and more inclusive future.
