Read edited excerpts:
As an alumnus, what inspired you to enrol your children at Apeejay School, Noida?
A big reason was trust. I studied here from Nursery to Class 8, and I know the teachers, the discipline and the overall environment. My son, Vaibhav Rallan, also studied here and passed out last year. The experience was so positive that choosing the same school for Juhi felt natural.
How does it feel to return to the same campus, this time as a parent?
It feels great and honestly, very proud. Being on the same campus but in a different role brings a lot of emotions. I feel connected to the place in a way that’s hard to explain.
Are there teachers from your time who are still part of the school?
Yes, and that’s very special. A couple of them were my teachers, and now they teach my children. Interacting with them feels wonderful, they were my mentors once and now guide my kids.
What core strengths of Apeejay School, Noida have remained unchanged over the years?
The teachers, without a doubt. Their involvement with students and the way they communicate has always been strong. Even during my time, sports and physical education were taken very seriously, and the school had a good name for it.
What are some noticeable changes you’ve seen over the years?
The infrastructure has improved tremendously. From buildings to air-conditioned classrooms and overall facilities, everything has gone from basic to very advanced. The environment has only improved – never declined.
How do you see the balance between traditional learning and modern education today?
It’s very different now. We depended completely on books and studied entire chapters. Today, technology plays a big role – students use the internet for quick answers. Times have changed, but guidance from teachers remains crucial.
Do you share your school memories with your children?
All the time. I tell them how there was just one security guard, no big boundaries, and how our football would roll outside the school. There was even a well where the medium block stands today. I also tell them about our then principal, whose moustache alone was enough to scare us!
In one line, how would you describe Apeejay School, Noida?
“Soaring high is my nature.”
Does being an alumnus help you understand the school’s philosophy better as a parent?
Absolutely. Having been a student, I understand what teachers expect from children and parents. That shared understanding makes communication much smoother.
