With board examinations around the corner, a supportive school ecosystem plays a crucial role in shaping students’ confidence and preparedness. In this candid conversation, Dr. Shilpa Beri, mother of Vedika Beri, a Class 10 student at Apeejay School, Nerul, shares her experience of the school’s academic rigour, holistic focus and values-driven environment. Having both her children educated at Apeejay, Dr. Beri offers valuable insights into how the school nurtures independent learners while supporting working parents.
Read edited excerpts:
How is Apeejay School, Nerul preparing students like Vedika for the upcoming board examinations?
The preparation has been very thorough. The teachers have covered all topics in depth and ensure ample revision. Vedika has already appeared for her first pre-board and the results were quite good. With another round of pre-boards scheduled, students are getting enough practice to build confidence and clarity.

How does the school support students beyond academics?
Apeejay School focuses strongly on holistic development. Vedika is keen on sports, and the sports department is excellent. She has participated in throwball and basketball and has even competed at the state level. The school provides equal importance to co-curricular activities.
As a working parent, did you find the school supportive during your children’s early years?
Absolutely. Both my children have been independent learners from a young age. The school instilled discipline and responsibility early on. I never had to constantly sit with them for homework, which was reassuring as a working parent.
How does the school encourage independent learning among students?
The school has a well-equipped library, and teachers actively encourage students to explore reference books. This develops curiosity and a habit of self-learning, where students research on their own and then clarify doubts with teachers.

How effective is the school’s feedback and communication system with parents?
The feedback system is very regular through PTMs and assessments. Vedika discusses her papers in detail at home, understands her mistakes and works on them. The school ensures students are aware and accountable.
Would you recommend Apeejay School, Nerul to other parents?
Strongly. Apeejay School, Nerul is a wonderful institution where children are well-grounded and strong values are inculcated. I would definitely recommend parents to consider Apeejay for their child’s education.
