At Apeejay School, Nerul, education goes beyond textbooks, focusing on structure, balance and holistic development. In a candid conversation, Ms. Shuchi Srivastava, a Chartered Accountant and mother of Shreyas Srivastava (Class 10) and Aishvi Srivastava (Class 5), shares her experience of being associated with the school since the nursery years and how Apeejay has supported both her children academically, emotionally and creatively.
Read edited excerpts:
As a parent, how would you describe your overall experience with Apeejay School, Nerul?
Apeejay School, Nerul is doing extremely well. The support system is strong and very well-structured. Classes are regular, teachers complete the syllabus on time and concepts are explained clearly. What stands out is that teachers are always approachable – even after school hours, they respond to queries and guide students patiently.
How has the school supported Shreyas in making career-related decisions?
The school has conducted multiple career guidance sessions where professionals from different fields interacted with students and parents. They encourage children to explore a wide range of career options instead of limiting themselves to conventional choices. The focus is on understanding a child’s interest first and then guiding them towards the right stream, which I truly appreciate.

Your son is in a board class. How does the school help students manage academic stress?
There is definitely pressure in board classes, but the school handles it beautifully. Even Class 10 students are actively involved in sports days, annual functions, carnivals and excursions. These activities help children unwind. The school leadership is very balanced and never pushes students unnecessarily for marginal marks. The emphasis is on enjoying learning rather than chasing percentages.
How does Apeejay School maintain a balance between academics and extracurricular activities?
The routine is not hectic. Most of the academic work is completed in class, allowing children to focus on self-study and revision at home. There are group discussions, classroom activities, platforms like Model United Nations, and ample opportunities in sports, music and art. My son enjoys cricket, and the school actively supports physical fitness and mental well-being.
Looking back, what aspects of Apeejay School, Nerul convinced you to continue your children’s education here over the years?
Academics was the primary reason, but over time, the holistic development approach convinced us to stay. From pre-primary to senior classes, teachers have been consistently supportive, caring and understanding. They treat senior students with maturity and listen to them patiently.
As a working parent, how has the school supported your parenting journey?
I have never felt stressed about homework or deadlines. Teachers are extremely cooperative and understanding of working parents. Communication is transparent, flexible and reassuring. That support has made parenting much easier for us.
