Preparing for the CBSE board exams can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to Mathematics. But with the right CBSE Class 12 board exam strategy, consistent practice, and smart time-management, students can score exceptionally well. To help learners fine-tune their preparation, Ms Suman Saluja, PGT Mathematics, Apeejay School, Pitampura shared valuable insights and last-minute CBSE board exam tips.

High-Weightage Chapters Students Must Prioritise

If students want to secure 40+ marks with regular practice, Ms Saluja recommends focusing on high-scoring units. “Matrices, Determinants, Applications of Derivatives, Probability, Vectors & 3D, and Integrals are extremely scoring. Just the calculus section alone carries around 35 marks,” she explains.

For those targeting 60+ or even 70+ marks, she emphasises building strong command over the entire calculus syllabus.

Avoiding Calculation Errors

The teacher stresses that accuracy comes from practice—not speed. “It’s not about attempting fast, it’s about correct steps. Using the right formula and substitution matters. Practice makes a man perfect, especially in Maths,” she says.

She strongly advises students not to leave any question blank and to start the paper with topics they are most confident about.

Best Revision Plan for CBSE Class 12 Exams

When it comes to choosing between PYQs, sample papers or chapter-wise preparation, Ms Saluja recommends, “Start with previous five years’ questions, attempt all sample papers, and solve NCERT along with exemplar. If students do just these three, scoring above 90% is absolutely achievable.”

This forms one of the most effective last-minute revision CBSE Class 12 plans.

Handling Lengthy Questions During the CBSE Board Examinations

Time pressure is a major concern in Maths. Her advice, “With good practice, nothing feels lengthy. Create a small formula notebook and revise it daily. Use the first 15 minutes to read the paper thoroughly and identify the easiest section to begin with.”

This aligns with essential CBSE exam day strategy tips and influences how to attempt the CBSE board exam paper effectively.

Boosting Problem-Solving Speed

Ms Saluja suggests starting unsolved questions immediately. “Students must practice daily, write down their mistakes in one place, and revisit them often. Do not give up on difficult problems—work on them until you improve.”

Importance of Stepwise Marking

Maths rewards every step, she explains. “You cannot reach the final answer by jumping steps. Each step carries marks. Whether it’s matrices or integration, every calculation needs to be shown clearly.”

She also suggests reviewing 100-mark answer sheets uploaded online by CBSE toppers to understand ideal presentation patterns.

With confidence, consistency, and a structured board exams revision routine, students can excel. As Ms Saluja reassures, “Always keep your thinking positive. If you have practised well and completed NCERT, exemplar, PYQs and sample papers, then no question is difficult for you.”
