The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a comprehensive circular detailing the complete assessment structure for the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 Board exams. The notification includes the subject-wise breakup of theory, practical, project, and internal assessment components, offering schools and students early clarity ahead of the exam season.

According to the schedule announced by the Board, all practical exams, project evaluations, and internal assessments for both classes must be conducted between January 1 and February 14, 2026. CBSE has urged schools to strictly adhere to this timeline to ensure the smooth and timely completion of the exam process.

The Board has also cautioned institutions to upload marks carefully, noting that errors in past years have caused procedural complications. It has been reiterated that requests for corrections after submission will not be entertained.

To support schools, CBSE has released detailed annexures on its official website outlining the marking scheme for each subject. These include subject codes and names, maximum marks allotted to theory and practical components, the requirement of an external examiner wherever applicable, and specifications regarding practical answer books.

The Board has reminded schools that every subject carries a total of 100 marks, distributed across theory, practicals, project work, and internal assessment, depending on the subject’s structure.

With the release of the updated assessment framework, CBSE aims to streamline exam procedures, reduce errors, and ensure greater transparency for the 2026 Board exams.
