Currently pursuing his PGDM from Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Ramit Tejpal is having an enriching journey, both academically and personally, with this Delhi-based B school. The institute has provided a perfect blend of theoretical learning and practical exposure that led Ramit to crack an internship opportunity with Hero MotoCorp. “I’ve had opportunities to work on live projects, attend industry sessions, and interact with experienced faculty who have guided me throughout. Overall, it’s been a journey of constant learning and growth,” he emphasised. In this interview, Ramit further talks about his learnings from internship. Read edited excerpts:
How did you decide to pursue an MBA from ASM and why did you choose the course?

I wanted to pursue management because I’ve always been interested in understanding how businesses work — especially the marketing and customer experience side of it. I chose ASM because of its strong reputation, excellent faculty, and industry-oriented curriculum. The PGDM program here is very practical and keeps you connected with what’s actually happening in the corporate world. That was a major reason why I decided to join ASM.
Tell us about your internship experience with Hero MotoCorp. What was the selection process?
I did my internship with Hero MotoCorp in the Digital Marketing Department. The selection process involved submitting my resume, followed by an interview where I was asked about my marketing knowledge and analytical skills. Once selected, I got the opportunity to work on Customer Journey Mapping in the Two-Wheeler Digital Space- understanding how customers move from awareness to purchase across Hero’s digital platforms. It was a mix of data analysis, campaign performance study, and deriving marketing insights.
How did ASM train you for this internship?
Apeejay School of Management played a huge role in preparing me for my internship. The classroom learning, especially in marketing analytics, consumer behaviour, and digital marketing, helped me understand the concepts I was applying at Hero. Apart from academics, the soft skill sessions, mock interviews, and case study discussions also helped me build confidence and improve my communication skills, which were really useful during my internship.

What has been your learning during the internship?
My biggest learning was understanding the digital customer funnel — how TOFU, MOFU, and BOFU campaigns work together to convert interest into leads and enquiries. I also learned how to analyse real marketing data, measure performance metrics like CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) and conversion rate, and compare platform performance across zones. It gave me hands-on experience in using data to make marketing decisions. On a personal level, I learned the importance of attention to detail, teamwork, and meeting deadlines.
How do you think these internships add value to your overall professional and personal development?
Internships bridge the gap between classroom learning and real corporate work. Professionally, it helped me understand how marketing strategies are executed on digital platforms and how data drives decisions in large organisations like Hero MotoCorp. Personally, it improved my problem-solving ability, communication, and adaptability. It also gave me clarity about the kind of work I’d like to do in the future.
