India will host the AI Impact Summit on February 19 and 20, 2026, a milestone event reflecting the country’s rise as a global leader in artificial intelligence.

What Is the AI Impact Summit?

This global summit marks a shift from planning AI frameworks to delivering real-world impact. Organized under the Ministry of Electronics & IT, it aims to move from AI “Action” toward measurable AI “Impact”.

India’s Goals as Summit Host

  • Democratise AI
The event underscores India’s commitment to making AI accessible across sectors—from healthcare and agriculture to education and governance. It will focus on inclusive, socially responsible solutions.
  • Practical Collaborations
Rather than just policy debates, the summit aims to showcase applied AI projects and partnerships that deliver tangible results.
  • Leverage Global AI Momentum
Building on the earlier AI Action Summit in Paris (February 2025) and prior events in Seoul and Bletchley Park, India seeks to further global cooperation on inclusive and responsible AI.

India’s AI Initiatives Supporting the Summit

Ahead of the summit, India is strengthening its AI infrastructure and regulatory frameworks:

  • Affordability and Scale
Through the IndiaAI initiative, over 34,000 GPUs have been made available for researchers, startups, MSMEs, and academia at subsidized rates—about ₹67 per GPU-hour, with the government covering 40 % of the cost.
  • Responsible AI Oversight
The newly launched IndiaAI Safety Institute (January 2025) focuses on bias mitigation, privacy, deepfake detection, watermarking, and ethical use of AI.
  • Homegrown AI Models
Several Indian startups—such as Sarvam AI, Soket AI, Gnani AI, and Gan AI—are developing foundational AI models using local datasets to address domestic needs in language, health, and governance.

Why This Summit Matters

  • Global Leadership: Hosting the summit cements India’s role at the forefront of the international AI ecosystem.
  • Inclusion & Equity: The focus is on democratizing AI so that benefits reach across India’s diverse linguistic and social communities.
  • Real-World Change: With an emphasis on impact, the summit sets expectations for outcomes—beyond ideas and plans.
