Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) is crucial for educators as it enhances their teaching skills, updates them on the latest academic trends, and fosters research capabilities. These programmes promote continuous learning, encourage innovation in pedagogy, and empower educators to create more engaging, effective, and student-centered learning environments.
Thus, understanding this need, Dr. Pooja Chaturvedi Sharma and Prof. Nupur Soti, faculty members from Apeejay School of Management, New Delhi, recently participated in a five-day offline Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), Patalganga, Mumbai. The programme, titled “Empowering Educators by Building their Expertise in Securities Markets”, was a specialised initiative aimed at strengthening the knowledge base and pedagogical skills of educators in the domain of financial markets.
The FDP comprised six focused modules: Securities Markets and Investments, Mutual Fund Distributors and Investment Advisors, Equity Derivatives and Simulation Lab, Research Analyst, Portfolio Management Services (PMS), and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), as well as a Data Science Lab. The sessions were delivered by eminent experts drawn from both academia and the financial industry, ensuring a well-rounded perspective grounded in both theory and practice. Participants engaged in interactive lectures, real-time market simulations, and data analytics exercises. The programme emphasised contemporary themes such as market microstructure, regulatory frameworks, investment strategy, and data visualisation using tools like Google Data Analytics. It also included practical exposure to financial instruments and portfolio management techniques.

The FDP provided an excellent platform for knowledge enhancement and professional growth. The participation of faculty from Apeejay School of Management reflects the institute’s ongoing commitment to academic development and institutional support for continuous learning. The insights and tools gained through this programme will meaningfully contribute to curriculum enrichment and classroom delivery in finance and investment-related subjects.
Sharing her thoughts Dr Pooja mentioned, “The NISM programme was a powerful convergence of academic insight and industry relevance. It sharpened my perspective on emerging financial tools and strategies, which I’m excited to translate into richer, more application-driven learning experiences for our students.”
Further adding, Prof Nupur emphasised, “The sessions led by distinguished academicians and seasoned industry professionals provided a powerful learning environment. The exposure to live simulations and data-driven strategies will greatly benefit our classroom engagements.”
