Honouring Dr Kasturirangan’s legacy 

Commemorative events like school assemblies play a vital role in inspiring young minds, instilling values, and connecting students with the nation’s rich legacy of pioneers and visionaries. They serve not just as remembrance, but also as motivation to emulate the ideals of excellence, integrity, and nation-building. 

Recently, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, organised a special morning assembly to honour the life and legacy of Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan — one of India’s most respected scientists, an iconic space visionary, and the chief architect of the National Education Policy 2020. The tribute paid heartfelt homage to his monumental contributions to Indian space science and education, as well as the timeless values he embodied — humility, integrity, and academic excellence.

The ceremony began with the traditional deep prajwalan and floral tribute by the Vice-principal, Ms Vandana Bansal, Primary In-charge, Ms Rachna Jain, teachers, and students before Dr Kasturirangan’s portrait. The serene ambience was elevated by the chanting of the sacred mantra “mā sadgamaya”, evoking a spiritual start to the solemn occasion. 

A well-researched presentation followed, tracing Dr Kasturirangan’s illustrious academic path, his tenure as the head of ISRO, and the numerous national and international accolades he received, including the prestigious Padma Vibhushan. The assembly also spotlighted his pivotal role in drafting the NEP 2020, a policy that continues to reshape the landscape of Indian education with a vision rooted in holistic and values-based learning.

A particularly memorable moment recalled during the assembly was his gracious presence at the 101st birth anniversary celebrations of the school’s revered  Founder-Chairman, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, Dr Stya Paul, in 2020. His glowing tributes to Dr Stya Paul and admiration for Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education, unwavering dedication to value-driven education resonated deeply with the audience.

The event featured devotional bhajans rendered by students, infusing the assembly with a spiritual and reflective mood. The Vice-principal’s concluding address encouraged students to strive for excellence and contribute meaningfully to the nation. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem, leaving everyone inspired and proud of India’s visionary leaders.
