The International Baccalaureate (IB) programme has always aimed to create learners who are inquirers, thinkers, and global citizens. But in today’s fast-changing world, how we teach and learn is evolving rapidly. At Apeejay’s IB School, Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), EdTech, and global challenges is being closely observed in reshaping IB education.
“One of the biggest trends today is the integration of AI in the classroom,” shared Mr Anant, AI/Robotics/ML Facilitator at the school. “AI tools are helping teachers personalise learning. These tools can identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses, offering targeted resources and support. This means every student can learn at their pace and in their style.” For teachers at Apeejay’s IB School, AI offers better data and insights to design more effective lessons.
According to Mr Anant, “In today’s technological world, where rapid technological innovation and evolving global challenges are shaping the education world, IB education is adapting to prepare students for a future that demands critical thinking, empathy, and open-mindedness. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and educational technology (EdTech) are no longer supplementary, they are becoming central to how learning is delivered, accessed, and personalised.” These tools support differentiated instruction, real-time analytics, and immersive environments that encourage exploration and reflection — hallmarks of the IB approach.
EdTech is transforming the way IB students learn through virtual labs, interactive simulations, and augmented reality experiences. Students are no longer passive learners—they explore, experiment, and build knowledge through hands-on, tech-enabled experiences. “By integrating AI and EdTech within the IB framework,” Mr Anant noted, “education becomes more than content delivery, it becomes a platform for innovation, ethical decision-making, and global citizenship.”
Global trends such as climate change, social justice, and digital ethics are influencing curriculum priorities. The IB’s emphasis on holistic development and intercultural understanding empowers students to take meaningful action. “AI opens up exciting possibilities for students to explore new dimensions in their Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) projects,” said Mr Anant. “From designing AI-driven solutions to social challenges like poverty or environmental sustainability, to using AI for community outreach, students are empowered to take meaningful action in the real world.”
Moreover, subjects like Design and Technology encourage learners to create real-world prototypes. “Students are now tasked with creating prototypes and solutions that incorporate AI components… the lessons go beyond theory,” he added.
“Ultimately, our goal is to inspire lifelong learners who are ready for the future,” Mr Anant concluded.
