Ishita Agarwal, a gifted artist from Apeejay School, Saket, has been selected as this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist. With a deep passion for painting and a knack for expressing her imagination, Ishita shares her artistic journey and aspirations in this exclusive conversation.
When did your journey with art begin?
Art has been my passion since childhood. At my playschool, I received awards from Scholastic in art events, and later, I was honoured with the “Excellence in Art” award by my school, Apeejay School, Saket. Art has always been my constant companion.
Which art form resonates with you the most?
Abstract art is my favourite. I enjoy playing with colours and expressing my perspective through abstract forms. It relaxes my mind and fills me with joy.
How does your school support your artistic pursuits?
My art teacher, Mr. Maharana, has been incredibly supportive and patient. He continuously encourages us and provides various opportunities to enhance our artistic skills. I am truly grateful to him.
What is art to you?
Art, to me, is the perfect blend of imagination, skill, and creativity. It is a powerful way to express oneself and offers endless possibilities for exploration.
How long does it take you to finish an artwork? What themes do you explore?
It depends on the size and complexity. A large canvas might take 7–8 hours, while detailed pieces require even more time. My themes often revolve around landscapes inspired by real places or my imagination.
