Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, recently organised an inter-house documentary screening for students of classes 6 to 8 to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. The event titled “Gandhi: The Great Soul of India” aimed to educate students about the life and values of Mahatma Gandhi, focusing on his contributions to India’s freedom struggle and his core principles of
non-violence, truth, and equality. The purpose of the event was to inspire students to learn from Gandhi’s teachings and apply his values in their daily lives.
“The Gandhi Jayanti documentary screening for classes 6-8 had a remarkable experience for our students. The life and values of Mahatma Gandhi were vividly brought to life through the documentary, which deeply resonated with them,” said Ms. Anasua Dasgupta, HoD SST &
6-10th class Coordinator, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.
The documentary showcased significant milestones in Gandhi’s life, from his early childhood to his role as a leader in the fight for India’s independence. It highlighted his unwavering commitment to non-violence, social justice, and equality, values that remain relevant in today’s world. Through the screening, students gained insights into the personal sacrifices Gandhi made and the strength of his conviction in pursuing a peaceful, just society. The film left a strong impression on the students, encouraging them to reflect on the importance of these ideals.

Ms. Vandana Bansal, the Vice Principal of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, led an interactive discussion with the students after the screening. “There were discussions on non-violence, truth, and leadership, and class teachers encouraged the students to reflect on how they can incorporate these values into their own lives,” added Ms. Dasgupta. The session sparked lively debates, with students sharing their views on Gandhi’s ongoing relevance in today’s world, particularly in areas like peace, equality, and justice.
The event, the first of its kind, not only honoured the legacy of the Father of the Nation but also inspired students to think critically. It was a great success, with active participation from the students and a deeper understanding of Gandhi’s enduring legacy.
