As students transition into senior classes, their academic responsibilities intensify, and so do the demands on their physical and mental health. This critical period of growth and development makes proper nutrition essential for senior students to perform well both academically and physically.

Senior students often face the pressure of long study hours, complex subjects, and high expectations. Nutrient-rich meals are vital for fueling the brain, improving memory retention, and maintaining focus during lessons and exams.

Mrs Sangeeta Nistandra, Principal of Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, discussed the introduction of a new meal plan, stating, “The nutritious meal plan has been developed to provide our students with balanced, healthy, and appealing meals, both at school and at home.”

She emphasised the importance of preparing children for success in today’s fast-paced world, noting that proper nutrition plays a key role in their academic and physical development. “Research has repeatedly shown that a well-balanced diet not only supports physical growth but also improves cognitive function, focus, and overall academic performance,” she explained. “With these insights, our meal plan has been carefully designed to meet the diverse nutritional needs of our students, ensuring they receive the ideal balance of vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates,” she added.

Adding further to the initiative which is introduced, Mrs Mandeep Kaur Minhas whose daughter Arnaaz studies in class X states, “The modern school environment is a hub of education, social interaction, and personal development, therefore the significance of a balanced meal plan in educational institutes cannot be underestimated.”

The visionary Principal, Ms Sangeeta Nistandra, has introduced a comprehensive meal plan that helps foster a holistic approach to the health of growing children and teenagers and their academic performance, the parent shared. “By instilling this habit, the school is providing a foundation for students to shine brighter and healthier. The meal plan goes well with the concept of a balanced diet, offering various combinations that are not monotonous,” Ms Minhas added.

Speaking about the benefits of this new meal plan, Mrs Shikha Gupta whose daughter Angel studies in class X shares, “I really appreciate our respected principal mam for introducing a meal plan. My daughter didn’t like to eat healthy meals before; she was fond of junk food. So, I always used to worry as to how to keep her nutritional balance.

“Since starting the meal plan, I have noticed Angel has more energy throughout the day. The structured nature of meal plan makes it easier for me to manage her meals without worrying last minute decisions. I am very thankful to mam for this decision, Mrs Gupta said in conclusion.
