A celebration of talent and youthful energy at Apeejay Stya University

The University recently hosted ‘Talent Hunt 2024’

Apeejay Stya University(ASU), Gurugram proudly hosted Talent Hunt 2024 to showcase the diverse talent of students across various fields. The competition attracted enthusiastic participants eager to demonstrate their skills in singing, dancing, drama and art.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Prof. Vijay Vir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of ASU, along with other guests. Addressing the audience, the Vice-Chancellor shared, “There has been an increased student participation in contrast to last year’s event.” He also appreciated the smooth coordination of the entire event.

The first event was the Fine Arts Competition that featured six activities including rangoli making, poster making, sculpture, mehndi, cartoon making, and clay modeling. They centered around the theme of emotion. Judges were Dr. Amita Mishra, Dr.Micky Verma, Prof. Sasi Gopal Menon, Dean of School of Design & Visual Arts (SDVA) and Mr. Tikender Sahu, Associate Professor, SDVA, who engaged participants with insightful questions to assess their creative thinking and ideas behind their work. 

Dr. Amita Mishra, Prof Emeritus, Department of Musical Vocal from Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar and Dr. Micky Verma from the Department of Dance at ACFA, felicitated with plant saplings.

Mishti Yadav, a student with School of Biosciences, opened the cultural segment with a graceful Krishna Vandana dance. Followed by the fine arts competition, solo singing competition made way for more entertainment in the event. Overall, nine participants competed with their melodies. Mimicry, poetry and solo dance competitions saw different emerging talents put their best foot forward.

The Elocution competition presented an insightful discourse about ‘Hard Work vs. Smart Work.’ In the debate about ‘One Nation, One Election’, every participant passionately expressed their views. The skit competition saw powerful performances from Thespian Group and the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. 

Next, two thrilling one-act plays were performed by students. The group dance competition showcased electrifying performances from all groups. The winners of the various competitions were selectively honored during the event. In the Fine Arts category, the top prizes went to the most expressive works in rangoli making, poster design, and sculpture winners were Dhananjay Saini from School of Engineering & Technology (SOET), Muskan Bansal from SDVA.

In the Solo Singing competition, Sneha Jajoo from School of Bioscience gave an electrifying performance and Sakshi Shamra from School of Pharmaceutical Sciences captivated the judges with their vocal prowess and secured the winning position. The Solo Dance competition was equally fierce. The stellar performances of Astha from School of Biosciences and Garvita from SOET emerged victorious for their outstanding performance. 

The contestants from the English Elocution contest impressed everyone with a compelling speech on “Hard Work vs. Smart Work,” while the debate on “One Nation, One Election” won for their well-articulated arguments. The winners were Kajal Shukla, Keshvi Priya Sinha, Rupkatha Roy, Pranav Kumar Jha and all belong to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The Thespian Group’s and School of Pharmaceutical Sciences gave a wonderful performance in the skit competition. The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences bagged the trophy once again. The One-Act Play showcased exceptional talent and unforgettable performance by Karan Kumar and Arjun Singh from School of Legal Studies. The latter took first place Finally, the group dance competition ended the talent hunt with the same enthusiasm as the show began. 

Speaking about her experience, Mishti Yadav, a student with School of Biosciences, mentioned, “It was a thrilling experience to perform Krishna Vandana dance. The Talent Hunt 2024 showcased a series of eventful competitions and we all had great fun in participating in various competitions.”  

Designed to celebrate creativity and foster a vibrant campus culture, Talent Hunt 2024 provided a platform for students to shine, while also encouraging teamwork, innovation, and personal growth. It was an unforgettable celebration of talent and youthful energy.
