On August 23, 2024, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri was abuzz with excitement as the Pre-primary section celebrated Janmashtami. The birth of Lord Krishna was brought alive through narration and blessings by the little ones of the Pre-primary section in colourful traditional attire.
The event started with the arrival of the students in the attire of different characters woven around Krishna’s life in a sequence that made the whole campus look like a vivid and jubilant painting. Their dresses, in the traditional outfits, looked like the very essence of Janmashtami, and the whole atmosphere seemed like it was a big carnival.
The festivity started with dance performances on devotional songs which filled the air with the essence of the festival. Toddlers dancing to the rhythm of the bhajans created a devotional environment that enthralled the audience with their excitement and talent. The children not only celebrated but also indulged themselves in the cultural atmosphere of their true roots which made this an edutainment function.


The Excitement of Dahi Handi
One of the greatest attractions was the ‘Dahi Handi‘ game, where kids with all their vivacity imitated the character of Lord Krishna. In running their young minds off to reach the dahi hanging high up; the attempts produced mirth and enthusiasm, making the game a great lesson in active teamwork and enjoyment.
The Principal of the school, Dr Vineet Vashsihsta, was also a part of the celebration. He commended the students and the teachers and encouraged the students to learn and inculcate the values portrayed by Lord Krishna, which will prove to be most crucial for the students to cultivate characteristics of goodness like kindness and courage.


Cultural bonding and ecstasy
It was more than just a fun day; it was a get-together in terms of culture and to accept the belongingness and pride in their culture in students. They were able to express their heritage, go and be joyfully together, and celebrate together.
The day ended with postulating the influence of the celebration. The students left with a difference in their cultural heritage and were more informed of the values attached to the Janmashtami. The celebration brought out smoothly a blend of tradition and modern educational practices that Apeejay School stands for today. It showed the school’s strong commitment to honouring the elements of identity as well as preparing students for a global education.

Overall, the festival of Janmashtami was both vivacious and educative, full of zest and fun. Cultural appreciation was amalgamated with the fun of festivity effectively and left an indelible mark on all the visitors. This fusion of fun, learning, and reverential togetherness made the event a profound experience for young minds.
