When did you start with this research project?
I began working on this book chapter on March 8, 2024. The chapter, “Redefining the Automation Narrative: Strategies for Mitigating Technological Unemployment and Promoting Economic Resilience,” explores the multifaceted impact of automation on employment and the economy. Contrary to the prevalent pessimistic views, the chapter proposes a balanced perspective that highlights both the challenges and opportunities brought about by automation. It discusses strategies such as upskilling, retraining programs, and fostering innovation to mitigate technological unemployment and enhance economic resilience.
How long did it take you to work on this from start to end?
The journey of writing this book chapter spanned approximately six weeks, concluding on April 19, 2024. The process included:
– Research and Literature Review: Extensive reading on automation, its economic impacts, and related policy measures.
– Drafting and Analysis: Developing the initial draft and refining the arguments based on insights from economics, sociology, and policy analysis.
– Mentor Feedback: Collaborating closely with Dr. Akanchha Singh, who provided invaluable guidance and constructive feedback.
– Revisions and Finalisation: Revising the chapter multiple times to address feedback and ensure clarity and coherence.
– Publication: The chapter was then included in the edited book “The Management
Perspectives: Marketing, HR & Beyond,” co-authored by Dr. S.K. Roy, Dr. Akanchha Singh, Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, and Dr. Vikas Kumar Tyagi.
Two challenges to keep in mind when conducting research work.
1. Data Accuracy and Relevance: Ensuring that the data used is accurate and directly relevant to the research questions.
2. Time Management: Balancing the time required for thorough research with other academic and personal commitments.
How did mentors at Apeejay help you to execute this?
Dr. Akanchha Singh, my mentor, played a pivotal role in the successful completion of this chapter. Her contributions included:
– Conceptual Guidance: Helping to shape the overarching narrative and theoretical framework.
– Critical Review: Providing detailed feedback on drafts, highlighting areas for improvement.
– Motivation and Support: Offering continuous encouragement and motivation, which was crucial during challenging phases of the writing process.
