At Apeejay School, Saket excellence is a tradition, and this year’s CBSE Result has proven just that. Apeejay Newsroom had the pleasure of interviewing the three top scorers Yash, Chhavi, and Pawani, who aced their Class 12 Board Exams. The achievers have showcased stupendous performance and in this interview they share with us about their academic journey, strategies they followed, challenges they faced, and aspirations they hold. Here’s a glimpse into their journey to success:
Yash Kumar’s Remarkable Achievement:
Topper from Apeejay School, Saket Yash Kumar, a non-medical student, achieved an outstanding score of 97.8%. Reflecting on his reaction to the results, Yash said, “I was very happy that I was able to score so high marks and was very relieved. It exceeded my expectations.” Yash’s preparation strategy was straightforward yet effective. “I just referred to NCERT. Many students go after many different books and they get distracted, but I was focused and read NCERT over and over and got the marks,” he mentioned.

Chemistry posed the toughest challenge for Yash due to its heavy memorisation requirements. “Eventually, I figured out that by repetitive reading, you can memorise it,” he emphasised. The school’s support was crucial for Yash, with mock tests and constant availability of teachers for both academic and emotional support. His advice to future students highlights the importance of consistency. “If you put in 2-3 hours from day one of your preparation, you can get a very high score,” said Yash, who is also a JEE Main topper and aspires to study Computer Science from IIT Delhi.
Chhavi’s Journey to Success:
Chhavi Kumar, a medical student, secured an impressive score of 96.8%, shared her initial surprise upon learning about her CBSE Class 12 result. “It was just in the morning,” she recalled. “I woke up a few hours ago, and then my class teacher sent the link that the result has been announced.” Despite the unexpected timing, Chhavi remained calm, confident in her preparation. Her meticulous approach involved not just solving questions but also understanding the marking scheme thoroughly. “My strategy was to read the marking scheme rather than just doing the questions,” she explained.

She further added, “I practised so much that I could easily analyse what would be the expected answer.” Chhavi, who dreams of becoming a paediatrician, said that focusing on subjects like biology and psychology, alongside thorough NCERT readings, proved pivotal in her success.
English and physics posed initial challenges for Chhavi, but with determination and guidance from her teachers, she navigated through them. “My psychology teacher herself told me that I am capable of getting a 100,” Chhavi recounted. “That kind of belief and motivation from my teachers boosted my confidence.”
As for advice to future batches, Chhavi emphasised the importance of balancing board exam preparation with competitive exams, stressing the significance of NCERT and previous year papers.
Pawani’s Triumph:
Pawani Srivastava, another shining star from Apeejay, Saket, secured an impressive 96%. Pawani’s journey was marked by nervous anticipation, quickly replaced by overwhelming joy upon seeing her scores. “My hands were shaking when I clicked on the results,” confessed the student from the Commerce stream. “But seeing the numbers, I felt great. It really overwhelmed me.”

The achiever’s strategy revolved around rigorous practice, particularly for subjects like Accounts and Maths. “Practice is everything,” she emphasised. “For theory subjects, NCERT was my go-to resource.”
Maths and Accounts initially posed challenges for Pawani, but with consistent practice and support from her teachers, she overcame them. “My teachers were always there,” the DU aspirant shared. “We even had online Zoom meetings, and they were available for doubts even late at night.” Her advice for future batches echoed the sentiment of sticking to NCERT and avoiding unnecessary supplementary materials.
Pawani’s dedication to preparation extended for months, with focused efforts from pre-board examinations onwards.
