94% Indian companies plan to increase AI spend: Report

Indian enterprises are moving decisively beyond experimentation and establishing themselves as global leaders in at-scale AI adoption, according to Deloitte’s State of AI in the enterprise report for 2026. The report highlights a clear shift toward embedding AI across core business functions that drive growth, efficiency, and long-term competitiveness.

At-scale deployment is most prominent in product development at 62 per cent, followed by strategy and operations at 56 per cent, marketing and sales at 55 per cent, and supply chain at 48 per cent. These trends indicate that organisations are integrating AI into decision-making, innovation, and customer-facing processes with increasing confidence.

The scale of usage further reinforces this momentum. Around 40 per cent of Indian enterprises report significant or full AI adoption, notably higher than the global average of approximately 28 per cent. This suggests that Indian companies are not only adopting AI quickly but are also translating it into tangible operational value.

Investment sentiment remains strong, with 94 per cent of organisations expecting to increase AI spending over the next year. Companies are prioritising areas such as security and compliance, data management, and scalable infrastructure to support sustained growth.

Organisations are also adopting practical approaches to accelerate implementation, with a preference for off-the-shelf tools and blended strategies that balance speed and flexibility. Alongside this, workforce initiatives such as upskilling and broader AI education are gaining traction, enabling wider adoption across teams.

With 97 per cent of organisations expecting productivity gains, the report points to a clear focus on measurable outcomes, positioning AI as a central driver of business performance in the near term.
