65% Indians trust the government to regulate AI responsibly 

A majority of Indians trust the government to regulate artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly, according to the Ipsos AI Monitor 2025. The report, based on responses from over 23,000 people across 30 countries, highlights India’s complex relationship with AI: 65% of Indians are excited about AI, while 66% feel nervous — a sentiment Ipsos calls “the wonder and worry of AI.” 

The survey revealed that 67% of Indians expect companies to clearly disclose their use of AI in products and services, aligning closely with the global figure of 79%. Interestingly, Indians show more trust in AI-generated content than the global average, especially in creative areas like product descriptions (44% India vs. 30% global) and advertising visuals (44% vs. 30%).

Despite this, Indians still show a preference for human-created content across most domains. For news articles, photojournalism, and advertising videos, 46–48% favored human work, while only about 40% supported AI-generated alternatives.

Looking ahead, over 60% of Indians believe AI will soon take over several tasks — from job application screening to political ad creation and even writing scripts or news articles. Notably, 66% expect AI to dominate online search results, and 63% believe it will help counter disinformation campaigns.

To be fair, 67% of Indians believe AI will not discriminate, placing AI and humans on a similar footing in terms of perceived bias.
