Young minds spark innovation at Apeejay School, Nerul

Recently, Apeejay School, Nerul, marked National Science Day with great enthusiasm by hosting an engaging and intellectually stimulating Science Exhibition, organised by the Primary Section. The event brought together students, teachers, and parents in a vibrant celebration of curiosity, innovation, and experiential learning.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the dispelling of ignorance through the light of knowledge. The solemn ritual set an auspicious tone for the day. A graceful invocation followed, creating a serene and inspiring atmosphere that resonated throughout the event.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr Jayant Vasant Joshi, whose address left a lasting impression on the young audience. He encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, keen observation, and a scientific temperament from an early age. Emphasising the importance of questioning and exploring the world around them, he urged learners to view science not merely as a subject, but as a way of thinking and understanding life.

The Special Invitees, Mr Akshat Nayyar and Dr Karthik PM (B.D.S.), also shared valuable insights, inspiring students to embrace innovation and perseverance. They highlighted how consistent effort and a willingness to experiment can transform simple ideas into meaningful discoveries. The school Principal, Mr P Subhash, lauded the collective efforts of students and teachers, underscoring the significance of experiential and inquiry-based learning in nurturing young minds. She commended the Primary Section for creating a platform where students could confidently showcase their knowledge and creativity.

The highlight of the celebration was the much-anticipated exhibition. The school premises buzzed with excitement as young learners proudly presented their projects to guests and parents. The exhibition featured an impressive array of innovative working models that reflected both creativity and conceptual clarity. Among the standout exhibits were a Laser Security System demonstrating the application of light and sensors in safety mechanisms, a Magnetic Levitation Train model illustrating principles of magnetism and frictionless motion, and an Electromagnetic Crane showcasing the practical use of electromagnets in lifting heavy materials.

Environmental awareness was also prominently displayed through projects like Waste Segregation (Dry, Wet, and Metals), which emphasised responsible disposal practices and sustainability. The working model of Solar and Lunar Eclipses effectively explained astronomical phenomena in a simple yet engaging manner, capturing the curiosity of visitors.

What truly distinguished the exhibition was the confidence and clarity with which students explained their models. Their presentations reflected thorough preparation, teamwork, and a deep understanding of scientific principles and real-life applications. Visitors were impressed not only by the ingenuity of the projects but also by the enthusiasm and articulate explanations offered by the young presenters.

The exhibition proved to be more than a display of models, it was a meaningful learning experience that encouraged exploration, experimentation, and critical thinking. By providing a platform for hands-on learning,  the school successfully fostered creativity and a spirit of inquiry among its students.

Overall, the celebration of National Science Day at Apeejay School, Nerul, thus became a memorable and enriching experience for all. It left parents, teachers, and guests inspired by the budding scientists of tomorrow, reaffirming the school’s commitment to nurturing inquisitive and innovative minds.
