In a world where sustainability is becoming central to every conversation, nurturing environmental consciousness from a young age is no longer optional—it’s essential. Apeejay School, Noida embraced this vision through an innovative and joyful art-integrated learning experience. The school organised a Vegetable and Leaf Art Competition for Class 3 students, creatively blending Environmental Studies (EVS) with visual art to deepen students’ understanding of the theme “Life on Land.”
This unique competition invited children to use natural elements—vegetables and leaves—to create compelling visual art on A4 sheets. More than just an exercise in creativity, the event encouraged students to reflect on the biodiversity, balance, and beauty of the natural world around them. The integration of environmental themes with hands-on art allowed for experiential learning—turning abstract concepts into memorable and meaningful expressions.
Judged on creativity, neatness, and innovation, the competition was presided over by an expert panel comprising Ms. Gopi Swaroop, Ms. Kala Bahuleyan, and Ms. Shelly Bansal, who were thoroughly impressed by the originality and execution of the entries. The children’s thoughtful interpretations of “Life on Land” through vegetable and leaf prints added a fresh, imaginative layer to the day’s proceedings.
Among the many exceptional entries, two students were recognised for their outstanding work. The First Prize was bagged by Arohi Navin from class 3-D and the second prize was won by Hriday Datta of class 3-B.
To further honour individual creativity, one student from each section was awarded “Best in Class”. Class 3-A had Ilisha Gupta, class 3-B had Livyansh Nagpal while class 3-C had Vedant Saxena and Class 3-D had Shaina Hurria as the best performer respectively.
The competition not only celebrated art and environmental awareness but also instilled in students the values of observation, appreciation for nature, and the joy of learning through doing. The vibrant imprints of vegetables and leaves on paper became more than just visuals—they became statements of care for the planet.
In true Apeejay Noida spirit, the event served as a reminder that even the youngest voices, when given the right platform, can echo meaningful messages. Through this delightful fusion of EVS and art, the students reaffirmed that learning can be both impactful and beautiful—just like nature itself.
