Recently, Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, hosted the Yellow Colour Day celebration with great joy and enthusiasm. The event was specially organised for nursery and LKG students to help them learn through colours in a fun and interactive way. The colour yellow, often associated with sunshine, happiness, and energy, became the highlight of the day.
The young learners of the nursery class arrived at school dressed in various shades of yellow – from lemon to mustard. Each child brought along their favourite yellow toy, creating a delightful atmosphere filled with brightness and excitement. The classrooms turned into a cheerful yellow haven, instantly lifting everyone’s spirits.
The main goal of the celebration was to help children identify the colour yellow through engaging activities. Teachers had planned several hands-on tasks that made learning enjoyable and memorable.
Learning through fun activities
Among the most popular activities was the earbud painting session. Tiny hands dipped earbuds into yellow paint to create beautiful patterns on paper. This introduced the colour yellow and helped improve the students’ fine motor skills. The joy on their faces while creating their art was a sight to behold.
Another engaging activity was the colour sorting game. Children were given a mix of coloured shapes and were asked to pick only the yellow ones. They then arranged these into different designs, allowing them to observe, recognise, and sort colours while stimulating their thinking skills.
The yellow theme was also creatively incorporated into the English language lesson. Students coloured pictures of a “coat” and “boat” in yellow while learning words with the ‘oa’ digraph. This activity helped reinforce phonics in a visual and meaningful way. Integrating academics with a colour theme made the learning process exciting and effective.
Smiles, crafts, and sunshine in LKG
The celebration extended to the LKG class, where students made smiley face badges using yellow craft materials. These bright and cheerful badges brought instant smiles to everyone’s faces. The activity allowed children to showcase their creativity and encouraged them to express positive emotions and spread happiness among their peers.
Yellow Colour Day was not just about wearing a specific colour – it was about experiential learning, creativity, and joy. The event successfully combined fun with education, offering young learners a chance to explore, interact, and learn in a playful environment. The entire day was filled with laughter, enthusiasm, and sunshine – both in colour and spirit.
