
Recently, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, hosted its vibrant Annual Day, themed on Aashayein: Celebrating India, where the tiny performers from the Pre-primary and Primary wings enthralled the audience with a spectacular display of talent, colour, and cultural pride. Students from nursery, LKG, UKG, Classes I and II came together to present an evening that beautifully reflected the spirit, diversity, and rich heritage of India.
The Chief Guest for the day was, Dr Mandeep Kaur, PCS, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, along with esteemed dignitaries including Mr Nirmal Mahajan, Member BOG; Dr Sucharitra Sharma, Director, Apeejay Education, Jalandhar; Dr Neerja Dhingra, Principal, Apeejay College of Fine Arts; Mr Kataria, Senior Head Operations; and Ms Sumitra Dhar, Admin Head. Principal Mr Yashpal Sharma, Vice-principal Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat, and Pre-primary In-charge Ms Jagriti Sharma were also present and encouraged the young performers.
Dr Kaur appreciated the confident performances and encouraged the children to believe in India’s growing strength and opportunities. She motivated the youth to contribute to the nation’s progress by building their futures in India.
Aligned with the theme, the young learners vividly showcased the culture, cuisine, dances, music, religions, and traditions of various Indian states through thoughtfully curated performances. The programme commenced on an auspicious note with a Ganapati invocation followed by Shiv worship, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the evening. The nursery students then charmed the audience with a delightful welcome song, extending a warm greeting to all the guests.
The UKG students took the stage with an energetic dance titled Incredible India, creatively presenting fascinating facts about different states, including their traditional food, folk dances, regional songs, and religious customs. Adding a meaningful patriotic touch, students of Classes I and II performed a well-scripted play centred on the National Flag, explaining the significance of its three colours and the respect it commands as a symbol of national unity.
One of the highlights of the evening was Achievement Saga, where the children proudly highlighted India’s remarkable accomplishments, including advancements in nuclear energy and the successful Chandrayaan mission. The atmosphere turned lively as Class II students performed an exuberant bhangra, followed by a soulful devotional song presented by students of Classes I and II. Students with perfect attendance were also felicitated, reinforcing the value of discipline and consistency.
The show stood as a brilliant celebration of creativity, confidence, and patriotism, leaving the audience proud and inspired.
