Listen to the poem here:
Time is a secret hiding in the day
It’s there when we work and when we play
But if I’m not careful it slips away
Like sand in my hand gone without a say
You cannot hold it in your hands
Cannot put it in a cage
You certainly cannot freeze it at any stage
We miss it only after it has slipped away
To bring it back, we yearn, even if for a day
To seize the moment, to capture its essence
Only to realise now we are missing its presence
I try to hold on to make time stay
But it keeps moving no matter what I say
So I think and I plan and do what’s right
To make sure my day doesn’t turn into night
Each second is special each minute is gold
I must use them wisely or so I’m told
Because time is a treasure deep and true
And how I spend it shows what I value too
When time is gone it won’t come back
It leaves no trail no secret track
So I cherish each moment and let it shine
Making sure that this time it’s truly mine
So I won’t waste it, not a single part
I’ll fill it with things that fill my heart
For time is a gift that I won’t ignore
I’ll make it count forevermore
