Language is not just a means of communication; it serves as a vital roadmap of culture, revealing the origins and aspirations of its people. Recognising this significance, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park inaugurated “Language Week” on October 14th, celebrating the richness and diversity of languages through a series of engaging activities.
The event commenced with a dynamic workshop led by Ms. Saurabhi Shahi, an accomplished author and coach. Her session emphasised the art of storytelling as a powerful communication tool, exploring topics such as the benefits of being multilingual, the evolution of storytelling, and techniques for making narratives compelling, including the effective use of voice modulation. The workshop concluded with an interactive trivia quiz, which saw enthusiastic participation from students in classes IX and X, fostering a lively atmosphere of learning and engagement.
“Language Week” was a wonderful reminder of how language connects us all. Seeing students engage creatively showed how words can spark imagination, foster communication, and build cultural understanding. It was a truly inspiring experience to be part of it”, said Ms Manjusha, TGT English.
In a seamless blend of community involvement and educational enrichment, Ms. Shahi—who is also a parent at the school—officially inaugurated the Book Fair. This initiative not only promoted literacy but also strengthened the bond between parents and the school community. Classroom activities further enriched the experience; students from Classes III and IV showcased their creativity by designing imaginative book covers, while Class V engaged in writing insightful book reviews and sharing their favorite stories.
Students in classes IX and X took part in stimulating debates about the relevance of the Sanskrit language and explored creative writing in Sanskrit, enhancing their appreciation for linguistic diversity.
The first day of “Language Week” concluded on a high note, celebrating the joy and diversity of language and setting an enriching tone for the days to come. Through such activities, Apeejay School emphasises the importance of language as a cultural connector, fostering an environment of curiosity and creativity among its students.
