The year that was- take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous New Year by believing

From breakthroughs in climate science and technology to advances in Artificial Intelligence to technological disruptions and innovations to mental health awareness, 2023 was a year of several ups and downs — nothing short of a roller-coaster ride!

Back home in India, it was all about G20 Presidency, India’s space programme, the GDP growth remained resilient, projected to be around 7%, and progress in areas like women’s empowerment, with initiatives like the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. As 2023 comes to an end in a little over 24 hours, standing on the threshold of 2024, we find ourselves reflecting on the journey we have undertaken in the last 12 months. For some, this year was woven with the resonance of beautiful memories that will linger like a comforting melody. For others, it brought challenges.

But let’s not give up in the New Year and gear up with hope, aspiration, and positivity as we transition towards 2024, ushering in a new chapter in our lives. So, let’s take a leaf out of our lives in 2023 and reflect on what made it so special.
We asked our alumni what 2023 meant to them and here’s what they said!

Leena Raheja, student of Apeejay School of Management (ASM)

This year has been extraordinary for me. It gave me that level of wisdom that I never thought I would ever reach. I started my professional career again after a break of long years and gained my financial freedom with it. I am proud to share that I even bought a house and started choosing the right set of people: I chose quality over quantity.

Subhankar Chakraborty, student of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical (AIMETC)

This year has been a year of growth and learning for me. I have faced some challenges, but I also come out stronger and more resilient. My friend and I got selected in the top 18 business plans in Punjab under the SHE initiative, deepening our engagement with the start-up ecosystem. Moreover, I also participated in a lot of extracurricular activities and inter-college competitions this year.

Although I couldn’t do well in all of them all these helped me gain an internship opportunity at Innovation Mission Punjab. These experiences have helped me to become a better version of myself.

Sohon Simlai, a student of the Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC)

This year was one crazy rollercoaster ride! It was full of momentary ups and dreadful dips. Learning, unlearning, relearning but most importantly listening — marked 2023 for me. A year that made me realise how to grow personally and professionally and move ahead. Can’t wait for the adventures of 2024!
