One important factor for this parent to choose Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, GK II was the small and secure setup. In a smaller environment, the teachers are able to give more attention to each child, and the student-teacher ratio remains balanced. Another aspect that this parent appreciated was the cultural orientation of the school. As a family, they value tradition and their roots very deeply. The school reflects that through its environment and practices, Ranjana Iyer, whose daughter Vidya is at Kids@Play, shared.
In a candid interview, the mother is reassured that her daughter is growing in a place where culture, discipline, and values are respected.
How did your daughter settle into the kindergarten?
When we enrolled her in October last year, she needed some time to adjust to being away from home. In the mornings, she would usually take about ten to fifteen minutes to feel comfortable. The teachers were very gentle during this phase. They noticed the activities she enjoyed, like Play-Doh and the doctor set, and used them to help her settle in. Once she got involved in those activities, she relaxed quickly. It took about two months for her to adjust completely, and by December, she was happy to go to school. Now she confidently tells me at the door that she is fine and happily greets her teachers.
How has the play-based learning approach helped your daughter socially and emotionally?
I have noticed a few very clear changes. The first is her vocabulary and language. Her ability to form sentences has improved a lot since she started school. The second change is how she interacts with other children. She has become better at playing in a group and handling her peers. Earlier, she sometimes struggled to understand things like waiting for her turn. Now she is learning those social skills gradually.
How have you seen your daughter grow in terms of social skills and curiosity?
What I find encouraging is her improvement in turn-taking and group interaction. These are small things, but they are important for a child’s social development. Another thing I see is her growing curiosity. She asks a lot more questions now. Often she asks what something is, why something happens, or where a sound is coming from. Her inquisitiveness has definitely increased.
What helped your daughter feel comfortable at school during the initial days?
The teachers were very patient and understanding during that transition. Even on days when she felt a little unsettled in the morning, by the time I picked her up, she was cheerful. She would often hug her teachers and say thank you before leaving, which showed me that she felt cared for and safe.
Are there any activities she especially enjoys or talks about at home?
She especially enjoys the music and dance sessions at school and often talks about the songs and rhymes she learns. One topic that fascinated her was the solar system. Even now, she remembers the planet song and can name all eight planets, which really amazed me.
How do you feel the teachers support her curiosity and confidence?
From the photos and videos shared by the teachers, I often notice that she eagerly participates in activities and is sometimes the first to volunteer or answer questions. The teachers seem to encourage her enthusiasm and give her opportunities to take part actively, which also helps motivate other children who may be shy.
