Looking for a good school for parents is a daunting task. This is because it sets the tone for what the future will hold for the children. For this, parents spend hours on end searching the Internet and asking family and friends for recommendations. Some end up choosing a school since they have had first-hand experience with how good the teachers are and their academic success.
Meet one such parent, Shweta Misra, whose daughters – Ira (class VII) and Srija (class II) — study at Apeejay International School (AIS), Greater Noida. “I chose this school for a few reasons. First, it is well-regarded in Greater Noida. Second, my husband is an alumnus of Apeejay. He knew what Apeejay had to offer in terms of academics and overall development. Third, during my initial visit to the school, the then-principal’s demeanor was impressive. From her, I was able to gather the excellent quality of the teachers this school had and this left a strong and lasting impression. So much so, that I didn’t consider other schools,” the mother shared.
In a conversation, she also talked about how this school has contributed to her children’s overall development. Read on to know more…
What was your first impression of the school?
My first impression was overwhelmingly positive, influenced by my meeting with the then-principal. The school’s large and well-equipped campus, coupled with its involvement in organising cultural events like The Ramayan, in which all students participated, confirmed my choice. I appreciated that they integrated cultural education into their curriculum.
How has the school environment contributed to your children’s development, academically and socially?
The school has been instrumental in their development. The teachers pay close attention to each student, fostering not only academic skills but also social and mental growth. My elder daughter, Ira, has grown very confident, actively participating in various competitions, including dance. She is also excelling in Kathak dance, contributing further to her self-confidence and social skills.
Can you tell us how the extracurricular activities have benefited your younger daughter?
Although she is quite young, the extracurricular activities have already started to build her confidence. She is developing well, and showing promise in various activities despite her age.
How does the school help your children set future goals?
The school organises various seminars and invites different speakers to share their experiences, which helps students, including my elder daughter, to explore and set future goals. These events, along with the active involvement of parents sharing their journeys, provide valuable insights and inspiration to the students.
What other activities involve parents and how does this benefit you?
The school actively involves parents in community activities, including seminars and lectures, which keeps us informed and engaged with our children’s education and overall development. This involvement helps us understand what our children are learning and where they might need further support or improvement.
What do you think about the holistic development approach of the school?
The school believes in holistic development and actively includes sports and various extracurricular activities, not just focusing on academics. They engage all students in diverse activities like yoga, music, dance, and even drama, ensuring a well-rounded growth environment.
If you had to choose one aspect that you like about the school, what would it be?
The holistic approach to education stands out the most. While academics can be strong in many schools, the way this school integrates it with extracurricular activities and overall development is what I find most beneficial for my children.
