The Future of Transportation: EVs and Flying Cars

Imagine zooming around above the clouds in a brand new flying car; that’s exactly what Aridge, a Chinese EV maker, is developing . Starting mass production in 2026, the Xpeng Aeroht Land  Aircraft Carrier, a six-wheeled van that can function as a ground vehicle and flying module, is a landmark achievement for the future of EV transportation.

The first flying car, the Waterman Arrowbile, had its first test drive in 1937. The Watermann Arrowbile, developed by Waldo Waterman, paved the way for the modern roadable aircraft concepts and showcased practical engineering solutions for combining air and ground travel, which was then further combined with the concept of electric motors for cars by Mark Moore, a NASA engineer, who created the concept of electrical vertical takeoff and landing, eVTOL.

The emergence of eVTOL aircraft is modernising the dream of flying cars. The work of pioneers like Mike Moore has brought one of the oldest fantasies of humanity to life, as Elon Musk said, ‘We will not stop until every car on the road is electric’
