The boy who loves birds

By G Adersh

Once upon a time, in a village, there was a boy named Smith. This young boy lived in a beautiful house. Smith always dreamed of having a pet bird. He loved how the birds fly and that there are so many different species.

One day, while walking down the street, he spotted a tiny, miserable bird. Gently lifting it, he realised it had a severe leg injury. Smith took no time and without hesitation, he rushed to the vet to provide the required remedies. The vet treated the bird and advised that it needed tender care until it is healed completely.

Smith took the bird to his home, placing it in a cage and diligently caring for it. He intended to keep it as his pet once it was properly healed. One morning, as he opened the window, he witnessed a beautiful garden with many birds happily flying high in the sky. It dawned on him that keeping the bird in a cage was not fair; he understood that he had been selfish. Realising this, he decided to give the bird the much-deserved freedom it deserved.

Moral: We should never be selfish and should strive to see things from others’ perspectives.
