In a candid interview, she talks about who inspired her the most to live by values like integrity, empathy, and respect.
What does receiving the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values mean to you personally?
It is not just a prize, but a reminder that kindness, honesty, and respect are very important in life. It makes me feel proud and inspires me to continue living by the human values that Dr Stya Paul wanted every student to uphold.
A moment when you consciously chose to uphold human values, even when it wasn’t easy.
Once, during a class test, my friend was trying to copy my answers. I could have helped, but I chose to stay honest and did not allow it. Later, I explained to my friend that it’s better to try on her own. It was not easy, but I felt happy for doing the right thing.
How does practising human values influence your daily interactions at school and beyond?
It helps me build better relationships with everyone. I try to be polite with teachers, respect helpers, and be friendly and fair with classmates. Outside school, I help people when I can and speak kindly. It makes my surroundings positive and peaceful.
Who or what has inspired you most to live by human values?
My biggest inspiration is my parents and teachers. They always guide me to be honest, to care for others, and to stand for what is right. I also get inspired by Dr Stya Paul, whose life showed us how living with strong values can make a big difference in the world.
Message to peers about the importance of living with compassion.
Success is not only about marks or achievements. What truly matters is being a good human being. When we show compassion and honesty, we make others happy and earn real respect. Let’s all try to follow human values in everything we do.
